We are incredibly proud of our Savanna students and how much they have grown — not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally.

Although this week was a little shorter due to the celebration of Emperor’s Birthday, our students returned energized and ready for an important event: Open School Day.

私たちは、Savannaクラスの子どもたちを心から誇りに思っています。子どもたちは、身体的な成長だけでなく、心や気持ちの面でも大きく成長しました。今週は天皇誕生日の祝日があり、少し短い一週間となりましたが、子どもたちにとっも大切な行事であるオープンスクールデー、嬉しくて待ちきれない様子でした！

This year’s Open School Day was simple and authentic — no rehearsals, no pretensions — just a natural glimpse into our classroom life. Our students confidently shared their learning about different celebrations in Japan and around the world.

For our formative assessment, we created a cozy sharing atmosphere. Parents sat on the floor with their children, and the students challenged themselves by asking their parents to pick a card. Whatever card was chosen, they explained the celebration connected to it.

今年のオープンスクールデーは、特別なリハーサルや演出はせず、普段のクラスの様子をそのままご覧いただきました。UOIでは形成的評価として、温かくリラックスした雰囲気の中で、保護者の皆さまに選んでもらったカードに書かれているお祝いについて、子どもたちが説明するというチャレンジにも取り組みました。それぞれが自分の言葉で一生懸命に伝える姿がとても印象的でした。

At just five years old, they demonstrated that they are truly becoming knowledgeable and strong communicators. They shared their understanding confidently, drawing from guest speakers, videos, books, and discussions. We were especially proud when students asked for help when needed — showing they are growing as inquirers, principled, and balanced learners.

まだ5歳という年齢でありながら、知識を身につけ、自信をもって伝える力が育っていることを見せてくれた子どもたち。ゲストスピーカーからのお話や動画、本、そして日々のディスカッションを通して学んだことを、笑顔とともに自分の言葉で堂々と発表してくれました。また、必要なときには自分から「手伝ってください」と助けを求める姿も。探究する力を持ち、誠実で、バランスの取れた学び手へと成長している証です。
