HAPPY FAMILY DAY- Rainforest June 2nd-6th – International School of Nagano

SCHOOL OPEN DAY

Hi everyone!

International Family Day is celebrated to recognize the importance of families and their role in society, raise awareness about the significance of families, highlight the challenges they face, promote the ideals of togetherness, and showcase the efforts that strengthen family units worldwide.

To show appreciation for their families on our school open day, our youngsters made a special eco-bag for their parents. They thought of the best design by looking at the books from the library, then drew it on the eco-bag. They colored it with their parents on the open day and wrapped it with a ribbon to make it nicer. Also, our little ones contributed a heartfelt song—”Glowing Inside”—for all the parents to say thank you and I love you. Looking at everyone’s reaction makes our hearts happy. Thank you to all the parents who took the time to come to our open day and celebrate family day with us. It means a lot to us.

スクールオープンデー

皆さん、こんにちは！

スクールオープンデーに、Rainforestさん達は大好きなお父さん、お母さんのためにエコバッグを作ってプレゼントしました。お父さんやお母さんが好きそうなデザインを考えて、図書館で借りた本を見ながらエコバックに絵を描きました。オープンデーの日に保護者の皆さんと一緒に色を塗って、リボンでラッピングしました。また、「ありがとう」「大好きだよ」という気持ちを込めて、「Glowing Inside」という心のこもった歌をプレゼントしました。家族の皆さんがうれしそうにしているところを見て、私たちもとても嬉しくなりました。お忙しい中オープンデーに足を運んで一緒にファミリーデーを祝ってくださって、本当にありがとうございました。

RECYCLING UNIT

Time flies! We are almost at the end of Unit 1, where we are discussing “Recycling.” This unit makes a big impact on each and every one of us. It broadens our students’ knowledge not just about how to recycle, but also about the people, animals, and things around them. They have become more mindful of how we can reduce waste to help our environment. To share their learnings, we made a book about the ways to reduce waste. Thank you for being principled and thinkers, Rainforest!

リサイクルユニット

時が経つのは早いもので、「リサイクル」についての探究はあと少しで終わりです。このユニットは私たち一人ひとりに大きな影響を与えくれます。リサイクルの方法だけでなく、私たちの身の回りの人や動物、物についての知識も広がります。Rainforestさん達は、水、紙、食べ物の無駄使いを減らし、水の汚染をなくすにはどんなことをすれなよいかを、より意識するようになりました。これまで学んだことを共有するために、ゴミを減らす方法についての本を作りました。みんなそれぞれのアイディアを持ち、環境を守るためにどんなことが出来るかを絵で表現することが出来ました。

例：ビニール袋ではなくエコバックを使う。野菜を洗った水を、お花の水やりに使う。無駄な食べ物をなくすため、食べきれない量のランチは盛らない。などなどです。

PLANT UNIT

For this week’s plant unit, we discussed the “parts of the plants.” We had an assessment first to evaluate the students’ learning about the lesson. We conducted a group activity where they talked and worked together as a team to complete the worksheet. We also asked them to write their answers in both English and Japanese. It’s good to see them working with each other, sharing ideas, and having fun while doing the activity. Job well done, everyone!

今週のPlant unitでは、「植物の部位」について考えました。まず、子ども達が今持っている知識を知るために、アセスメントを行いました。グループになり、植物の部分の名前を完成させるワークシートです。子ども達はグループで話し合い、お互い意見を出し合いながら、楽しんでワークシートに取り組みました。日本語の名前なら知っている子もいたので、英語と日本語の両方で答えを書いてもらいました。空欄の部分がまだ多かったので、これからの探究でもっと物知りになるでしょうね。
