Happy New Year to everyone! Welcome back Waterfall and welcome to our new student! To start the week off on a hopeful note, we took a brisk walk to the shrine to play in the snow, give thanks, and make wishes for a wonderful 2026! 

あけましておめでとうございます！ウォーターフォールクラスのみなさん、おかえりなさい。そして、新しいお友だちを心より歓迎します。希望に満ちた新年のスタートとして、今週はキャニオンクラスと一緒に元気に神社までお散歩に出かけ、雪遊びを楽しみながら、素敵な2026年になるようお願いをしました。神社でお祈りするときは「二礼二拍手一礼」ということも学びました。

As we wrap up this unit on feelings, Waterfall students get to experience many feelings in this weather. They took time to watch the flurries fall with excitement and welcome the New Year’s snowflakes with joy and eager hands. They are learning that everything is not always as it seems and that their feelings can change! Some students found the snow to be as thrilling as they hoped it would be, while others found it to be cold. Regardless of their feelings on snow, each student braved the storm with confidence and happiness!

「気持ち」をテーマにしたこのユニットも、いよいよまとめの時期となりました。
ウォーターフォールの子どもたちは、このお天気の中でさまざまな気持ちを体験しています。
舞い落ちる雪をわくわくしながら眺めたり、新年の雪をうれしそうに手を伸ばして受け止めたりしました。

物事はいつも思った通りに感じるとは限らず、気持ちは変化するものだということも学んでいます。
雪を「思っていた通り楽しい！」と感じた子もいれば、「冷たいな」と感じた子もいました。
それでも、雪に対する感じ方に関わらず、どの子も自信と笑顔をもって雪の中での活動に参加していました。

Next, Waterfall students prepared for the upcoming Setsubun by painting a few vibrant colors on monsters. Then students stuck on some eyes, eyebrows and a moustache! After a little more cutting and coloring their monster surprises will be ready!

次にウォーターフォールの子どもたちは、お正月にちなんで、「だるま」にカラフルな色を塗りました。
その後、目やまゆ毛、そしてひげも貼りつけました！
もう少し切ったり色を塗ったりすれば、びっくり顔のだるまたちの完成です。
