OUR FAVORITE STORIES- Rainforest Oct. 14th-17th – International School of Nagano

In our UOI lesson, the students had a fun and engaging activity about their favorite stories. They drew pictures to show what their chosen stories were about and excitedly shared them with their friends. Each student talked about the characters in their story, explained why they liked it, and described where the story takes place. It was wonderful to see their creativity and confidence as they expressed their ideas and learned more about each other’s favorite tales.

今週のUOIレッスンでは、自分たちのお気に入りの物語を友達にシェアする楽しい活動をしました。子どもたちは、自分が好きな物語の内容を絵に描き、どんなキャラクターが登場するか、どんな場所で物語が展開するのか、その話が好きな理由などをわくわくしながら友だちに発表しました。子どもたちが自分の考えを表現しながら、互いのお気に入りの物語について学ぶ様子は、とても創造的で自信に満ちていて素晴らしかったです。

We had a stranger drill at school, and a policewoman came to talk to the students. She explained important safety precautions, the do’s and don’ts, and the rules to follow when there’s a stranger around. She reminded everyone not to talk to or go anywhere with strangers, never to accept gifts or rides, and to always stay close to a trusted adult. The students listened carefully and learned how to keep themselves safe in different situations.

今月の避難訓練は、子どもたちが園庭で遊んでいる時に不審者が現れたことを想定した「不審者訓練」をしました。オフィスの先生が「Emergency!」と叫ぶと、子どもたちは先生たちの指示をよく聞いて、素早く建物内に避難することが出来ました。その後、松本警察署の方に不審者から自分の身を守る「いか・の・お・す・し」のお話を聞きました。知らない人に声を掛けられても、「行かない」、「（車に）乗らない」、「大声で叫ぶ」、「すぐに逃げる」、「（大人に）知らせる」ことが大切だそうです。子どもたちは真剣に話を聞き、さまざまな状況で自分の身を守る方法を学びました。来年からは小学生になる子どもたち。一人で行動することもあるので、とても大切なことを学びました。

Our class had a wonderful collaboration with the Milky Way class from the Minami Campus and the Grade 1 students from Gojo Elementary School. Together, they enjoyed fun activities, including a scavenger hunt where they explored nature and celebrated the beautiful autumn season. Everyone had such a great time working and playing together, and the day became even more special when they shared lunch and enjoyed their yummy obentos with friends.
