This week is shorter for our little inquirers because the school needs to take a break for the teachers’ IB training. While it may be a bit sad, it’s also beneficial: the students will have an extra day of rest. They can visit parks longer, play with various games and toys, or even go somewhere a bit farther from home to relax!

今週金曜日は職員のIB研修のためスクールがお休みとなり、子ども達にとって短い一週間になりました。少し寂しいかもしれませんが、これは良いことでもあります。子どもたちはお休みを1日多く取ることができ、公園で長く遊んだり、いろいろなゲームやおもちゃで遊んだり、いつもより少し遠くのお出かけ先でリラックスしたりすることもできます！

Before we finish this week, the class had the opportunity to showcase their talents in presenting. To add a bit of fun, the class decided to format it like a puppet show, with each group presenting their pretend family and sharing their roles. Although it may have been their first time presenting in front of an audience, and they might have felt a bit shy, everything went smoothly. Both the audience and the presenters had a great time sharing their characters and roles with the class. It was delightful to hear comments like: “I am Grandpa, and my role is to play with the baby,” and “I am Mom, and my role is to wash the car.” This shows that they are open-minded and understand that every family is unique; some are similar, while others are different.

今週の締めくくりとして、クラスではプレゼンテーションの時間がありました。子ども達でグループを作って家族を構成し、その家族の中での自分の役割を人形劇で発表しました。観客としてみてくれるお友達の前での発表は、少し恥ずかしさがありながらも、すべてがスムーズに進みました。演じる子も見ている子も、お互いのキャラクターや役割を共有する時間をとても楽しんでいました。

「ぼくはおじいちゃん。いつも赤ちゃんと遊んでいます！」「わたしはお母さん。家族の車を洗う事が大切なお仕事です。」などのコメントが聞こえてきて、とても微笑ましかったです。こうした発言から、子どもたちは心を開き、それぞれの家庭がユニークであること、似ているところもあれば違うところもあることを理解している様子がうかがえました。

The Savanna class continues to fall in love with sight words (also known as jump-out words). Most of the students have memorized the two sets we are practicing and can read them at first glance.

サバンナクラスの子どもたちは、「サイトワード（ジャンプアウトワードとも呼ばれます）」がどんどん好きになってきています。今練習している2つのセットの単語は、ほとんどの子が覚えていて、見た瞬間に読めるようになってきました。

This week in Writing, the entire Savanna class discovered that the alphabet consists of three groups: small letters (turtle letters), tall letters (giraffe letters), and hanging letters (monkey letters). They had a great time exploring this concept and surprisingly grasped the idea easily. We will continue learning about these letters, and soon we will begin practicing writing them..

今週のライティングの時間、サバンナさんはアルファベットが3つのグループに分かれていることを発見しました。小さい文字（カメの文字）、背の高い文字（キリンの文字）、そしてぶら下がっている文字（サルの文字）です。イラストを交え、ゲームのように楽しく学びました。これからもこの文字たちについて学び、もうすぐ実際に書く練習も始める予定です。
