It was another exciting week for the Savanna Class! 今週もサバナクラスは楽しい一週間を過ごしました！
This week, we went to the field together with the Rainforest Class and harvested the sweet potatoes we planted back in the spring. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to experience what it’s like to be a farmer and understand the importance of their job. Some students connected it to our UOI lessons and said, “Sweet potatoes are non-living things! We saw dragonflies, and they are living things!”
今週はレインフォレストクラスと一緒に畑に行って、春に植えたさつまいもを収穫しました。みんなで土を掘って、さつまいもを見つけるたびに大はしゃぎ！農家さんの仕事の大切さを感じる、とてもいい体験になりました。
子どもたちはUOIのレッスンを思い出して、「さつまいもは生きていないものだよ！」「トンボは生きているものだね！」と話していました。
On the bus, we played a “Quiet Challenge,” where everyone tried to stay quiet and calm during the long trip. The children giggled, whispered, and reminded each other about the challenge—it was such a fun way to practice self-control!
帰りのバスの中では「クワイエットチャレンジ」をして、だれが静かにできるかに挑戦しました。みんなクスクス笑ったり、ヒソヒソ話したりしながらも、「しーっ！」とお互いに声をかけあって、長いバスの時間もとっても楽しそうでした。
In Phonics, we started mixing sight words and CVC words to read short sentences. The children were amazed and proud that they could now read sentences using the words they already knew how to read!
フォニックスでは、サイトワード（目で見て覚える単語）とCVCワード（子音＋母音＋子音で出来ている単語）を組み合わせて短い文を読む練習を始めました。子どもたちは「え！もう文が読める！」とびっくりしながらも、とても嬉しそうでした。
The Winter Show is also just around the corner, and the Savanna Class has started planning their play. They voted to present Bananas in Pyjamas! We began reading the story to help them get familiar with it, and the children are already choosing which characters they want to play and listening to the songs they’ll sing. We can’t wait to start rehearsing and get ready for the big day!
そして、もうすぐウィンターショーの季節です！サバンナクラスでは、発表するお話をみんなとの話し合いで決めました。選ばれたのは 「バナナーズ・イン・パジャマズ」！今はお話を読んで、登場人物を覚えたり、自分のやりたい役を考えたり、歌を聞いたりしています。これからの練習が楽しみですね！
