It was an exciting week for the Savanna Class — we were out and about once again, this time for our long-awaited Bus Trip! 🚌✨ 今週のハイライトは、みんなが楽しみにしていた バストリップ🚌✨！

The class headed to one of the city’s most scenic parks, Agata no Mori. There, we admired the beautiful autumn colors of the trees and walked around to appreciate the charm of the historic buildings that have been carefully preserved through the years. 行き先は松本市内でも人気のある あがたの森公園。
秋色に染まった木々を眺めながらお散歩をし、歴史ある建物が今でも大切に保存されている様子を見てきました。

One of the highlights was our Library Visit, where the students enjoyed exploring books to discover more examples of living and non-living things. The fun continued outdoors as we observed real-life living things such as birds and Japanese koi. We were guided by a professional nature expert, Mr. Kamijo, who taught us many fascinating facts about birds. 今回のハイライトの一つは図書館の利用です！📚私たちが住む歴史ある建物を知ると共に、これから行くあがたの森にはどんな生き物がいるのかを、推測しながら絵本を見てきました。実際にお友達と絵本を見ながら、「恐竜はいないよねえ！」「くじらは…いない、よね？」と楽しそうに絵本をめくっていました☺
その後は外に出て、実際に生き物を探す探検タイム！Ms,Yumikoのお友達で、自然ガイドで鳥の先生でもある上条さんという方に、鳥の名前や木の種類をたくさん教えていただきました。また、一緒に池のコイにエサやりしたり、どんぐりの葉っぱで草笛を演奏してもらったり、大きなどんぐりが落ちている場所を教えてもらって大喜び！
待ちに待ったお弁当タイムの後は、芝生を走って落ち葉の上に寝転んで、たくさん笑って楽しい時間を過ごしてきました！大好物がいっぱい詰まった美味しいお弁当やその他の用意、どうもありがとうございました！

Back in the classroom, an exciting debate took place — some students believed that acorns are non-living things because they don’t move or grow, while others thought they might be living. To find out the truth, we read a book called Little Acorn. Through the story, the students followed the life cycle of an acorn and discovered how it grows into a tree. Some changed their minds halfway through the story, while others held on until the very end before realizing that acorns are indeed living things! 🌰🌳

In the end, the whole class reached a wonderful conclusion and moved the acorn pictures from the “non-living” to the “living” category. クラスに戻ると、なんと子どもたちの間で どんぐりは生きものか？生きていないものか？ という大討論が始まりました！
「動かないから生きていないよ！」という子もいれば、「でも木になるんじゃない？」という子も。
そこで、みんなで 『どんぐりのぼうけん』(Little Acorn) という絵本を読みました。
どんぐりがどうやって芽を出し、大きな木に育っていくのかを知ることで、少しずつ考えが変わってきた子ども達。
最後には全員が「どんぐりは living things！」と納得し、クラスに貼ってある写真カードを“non-living”のグループから“living”へ移動しました🌰🌳

Next week, we’ll be diving into our second Line of Inquiry: Living things grow and change when we take care of them. The students are already very excited for the experiments and hands-on activities we’ll be doing! 来週からは、LOI2 「生き物は世話をすることで成長し、変化する」 に入ります。
