This week, our young inquirers made a wonderful discovery. With the Golden Week holiday approaching, one of the events they are preparing to celebrate is “Kodomo no Hi,” or Children’s Day. As part of this cultural tradition, it is customary to hang koinobori (carp-shaped streamers) in homes. To create these decorations, the children crafted their own koinobori to hang around the campus. Before starting their craft, they read a book about Children’s Day. In the story, they learned that the fish displayed are part of a family, though one without a mother. Upon hearing this, the children exclaimed, “It’s okay! They are still a family.” Their reaction clearly shows their understanding of the inquiry topic: Types of families.
今週、サバンナさん達は素晴らしい発見をしました。子ども達の健やかな成長を願い、「こどもの日」として家に飾る習慣があるこいのぼり。クラスでは、色のついたシャボン玉液をブクブク！とストローで吹いて色を付ける“バブルアート”という方法で、素敵な鯉のぼりを作りキャンパスに飾りました。またクラフトを始める前には、こどもの日についての絵本を読んだりこいのぼりの歌を歌い、真鯉はお父さん、緋鯉は子ども達、と母親がいない家族である事を知りました。「そうだったんだ！大丈夫！それも家族だよ。」と反応する子ども達に、「様々な家族の種類」という今回のトピックをよく理解しているなと感じています。
As part of the Savanna class, many changes are on the horizon, including numerous upgrades and more challenging activities. One of these activities is writing. Before diving into formal writing lessons, the entire class practiced writing their names on the baseline, which was a new experience for them. Even though some students felt nervous, they persevered and wrote their names to the best of their ability, inspiring each other and having fun while completing the task.
サバンナ・クラスでは、キャニオンの頃よりアップグレードした、数々のより楽しいアクティビティが始まっています。そのひとつがライティングです。正式なライティングのレッスンに入る前に、みんなで自分の名前を書く練習をしました。まだ書けない…と緊張していた子も、先生に教えてもらったり見本を見ながら丁寧に自分の名前を書き、お互いに刺激し褒め合いながら、楽しく挑戦できました。
The whole class had a wonderful time matching mommy and baby letters, too! They counted the correct pairs they had made and counted the points they acquired!
また、部屋中に散らばった大文字（ママ）と小文字（子ども）のアルファベットカードを、親子としてマッチングさせるゲームを楽しみました！ペアの数を数えたり、獲得したポイントを数えたりと、大盛り上がりでしたよ！
