Firstly, a big shout out to our Birthday Boy! Happy 5th Birthday! We had a class party and a school party. Our birthday boy blew out the candles and cut his birthday cake!
まずは今月誕生日のクラスメイトを祝福しましょう！お誕生日おめでとう！サバンナクラスでお祝いしました。蝋燭を吹き消し、ケーキをカットしてみんなでシェアしました。
Our fieldtrip to Nagisa Fire Station was an amazing experience for Savanna. “The ladder so high! 30 metres. This (oxygen tank) is so heavy. The wheels are so big. That’s hose!” We were shown equipment that firefighters need for rescue operations – a big cutter, fireproof helmet, suit and boots. Savanna even tried carrying the 20kg oxygen tank! We were told that firefighter on duty need to carry that for 5 hours straight! So Savanna, if you want to be firefighter you have to be healthy and fit. We were told that we have to study hard too!
渚消防署見学は、サバンナさんにとってとても素敵な経験になりました。 「はしご、すごい高いね！」「 30メートルだって。」「これ（酸素タンク）すごく重いよ。」「車輪がすごく大きいね。」「これ、ホースだよ！」消防士が救助活動に必要な装備、大型カッター、耐火ヘルメット、スーツ、ブーツなどを見せてもらいました。サバンナさんは20kgもする酸素タンクを背中に背負わせてもらいました。勤務中の消防士はそれを5時間連続で背負わなければいけないということを聞きました。「サバンナクラスの皆さん、消防士になりたければ健康で体力がなければなりません。勉強もとても大事ですよ。」と言われました！
We made masks for the upcoming Setsubun Festival too. The Oni demon masks were drawn and cut out. Paper plates were painted and yarn pasted for monster hair! Guess who we are bhind the masks!
節分に向けて鬼のお面も作りました。こわ〜い鬼の顔を思い浮かべながら、顔のパーツを描いて切り抜きました。紙皿に色を塗り、鬼の髪の毛は茶色の毛糸を使いました！マスクの後ろには誰がいるのか当ててみてください！
Setsubun (節分), literally “seasonal division”, marks a special occasion in Japan’s old lunar calendar- winter’s end and the beginning of cherry-blossomed spring. 節分は、文字通り「季節の節目」であり、日本の旧暦における特別な日、つまり冬の終わりと桜咲く春の始まりを表します。「鬼は外!」「福はうち！」と唱えながら、鬼に焙煎豆を投げます。「家の中や自分の中に潜む悪魔を外へ、幸運は内へ！」という意味です。鬼の色にも意味があることもクラスで話をしました。
