This week in our classroom was full of meaningful learning, creativity, and joyful moments together. Through our Unit of Inquiry, Who We Are: My Roles, students explored their identities within their families and practiced being confident communicators and caring members of our class community.

On Monday, we celebrated our April birthdays! Three students from the Savanna class turned five years old. We sang an energetic morning song and had lots of fun playing “Simon Says.” It was a joyful celebration filled with laughter and excitement. Happy birthday!!!

今週のサバンナクラスでは、子どもたちの学びや創造力、そしてたくさんの笑顔にあふれた温かい1週間となりました。「Who We Are: My Roles（私の役割）」をテーマに探究を続け、子どもたちは家族の中での自分の役割について考えたり、お友だちと関わる中で、自分の気持ちを伝えたり、思いやりを持って過ごすことを少しずつ学んでいます。

月曜日には、4月生まれのお友だちのお誕生日をお祝いしました！Savannaクラスでは3名のお友だちが5歳になりました。元気いっぱいに朝の歌を歌い、「Simon Says」のゲームで盛り上がりました。笑顔と笑い声があふれる、楽しいお祝いの時間となりました。お誕生日おめでとう✨

One of the highlights of the week was our “Family Picture Show and Tell.” Each student proudly shared photos of their family and introduced their loved ones to the class using simple sentences like, “This is my family. I have a mother, a father…” and “There are ___ people in my family.” Students demonstrated being communicators as they spoke in front of their peers.
今週のハイライトの一つは、「Family Picture Show and Tell」でした。子どもたちは自分の家族の写真を嬉しそうに紹介し、「This is my family.」「I have a mother, a father…」「There are ___ people in my family.」などの表現を使って、大切な家族について発表しました。お友だちの前で、先生のサポートを少し借りながら話す子や、ほとんど自分の力で堂々と発表できる出来る子もいました。

We also worked on a creative project where students cut out their family photos and circles, then placed them onto green circles. Soon, we will put them all together to create a big family tree. This hands-on activity allowed them to visually represent their families while practicing their cutting and pasting skills. If you have a chance, please visit the second floor to see their amazing crafts on display—they did a fantastic job!

また、制作活動では、家族の写真や丸い形をハサミで切り抜き、緑の丸の上に貼る活動にも取り組みました。みんなの家族の写真を組み合わせて、これから大きなファミリーツリーを作る予定です♪子どもたちは自分の家族を目で見える形で表現しながら、はさみやのりの使い方も楽しく練習することができました。

In Phonics, we played the “Find the Sound” game to strengthen our understanding of letter sounds. When a sound like /s/ was called out, students quickly searched for both uppercase “S” and lowercase “s” cards. In the game, one student said a sound while three players raced to find the correct card. This activity encouraged students to be knowledgeable as they explored sounds and letters in a fun and active way.

フォニックスの時間には、「Find the Sound（音を見つけよう）」ゲームを行い、アルファベットの音への理解を深めました。/s/のようなアルファベットの音を伝え、子どもたちは大文字の「S」と小文字の「s」のカードを素早く探しました。ゲームでは、1人の子が音を言い、3人の子どもたちが正しいカードを見つけるために競い合いました。楽しく体を動かしながら、アルファベットの音と文字に親しむことが出来ました。

On Thursday, we went for a walk along the riverside. The Savanna students are showing great improvement in walking together and following safety rules on the road. It’s wonderful to see them becoming more aware and responsible during our walking.

木曜日には、川沿いへお散歩に出かけました。子どもたちは、みんなで歩くことや道路での安全ルールを守ることがとても上手になってきています。川沿いの広場では、たんぽぽの綿毛を飛ばしたり、小さな虫を見つけて追いかけたりと、春ならではの遊びを楽しみました。

ジムレッスンでは、フラフープを使ってたくさんのアクテビティをしました。先生のお手本をよく見て、最初は難しいと思ったことでも一生懸命繰り返しチャレンジしていました。出来るようになると、「Look! I did it.（見て！出来たよ。」と嬉しそうに見せてくれました。レッスンを始める前のストレッチでは、今年度からブリッジの練習を始めました。手の付き方が上手になったと先生に褒められました！お家でも是非練習してみてください。

Overall, it has been a fantastic week of learning, sharing, and growing together. We are proud to see the students developing as confident, and responsible learners. Next week is Golden Week. We hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday with your family!
