The children of Canyon Class have had a joyful and active week in our 3-year-old class, filled with exciting experiences and meaningful learning moments. As part of our Unit of Inquiry (UOI), we continued exploring “Who We Are” by focusing on our age and what it means to grow. Using the concept of birthdays, the children began to understand that age is connected to a special day of celebration. Through stories, songs, and hands-on activities, they explored the idea of turning three, counting candles, and proudly saying “I am 3.” It has been wonderful to see their growing confidence as they begin to express simple ideas about themselves. They rounded off their learning with a hands-on activity, pasting and decorating their own birthday cakes on paper and showing their age by placing three or four  candles, reinforcing their understanding in a fun and meaningful way.

キャニオンクラスの子どもたちは、3歳児クラスでの今週を、楽しく活発に過ごし、わくわくする体験や意義のある学びの時間にあふれた一週間となりました。

ユニット・オブ・インクワイアリー（UOI）の一環として、「Who We Are（わたしたちはだれか）」の探究を続け、今回は自分たちの年齢や「成長すること」の意味に焦点を当てました。誕生日という身近なテーマを通して、年齢が特別なお祝いの日と結びついていることに気づき始めました。

絵本や歌、体験的な活動を通して、「3歳になること」やろうそくの数を数えること、「I am 3（ぼく／わたしは3歳）」と自信をもって言うことを楽しみながら学びました。自分自身について簡単なことを表現し始める姿から、子どもたちの自信が育ってきている様子が感じられ、とても嬉しく思います。

最後には、紙に自分のバースデーケーキを貼ったり飾ったりする制作活動を行い、3本または4本のろうそくを飾ることで自分の年齢を表現しました。楽しみながら理解を深めることができる、意味のある活動となりました。

This week was also full of movement and exploration beyond the classroom. The children enjoyed their swimming session, where they practiced water confidence and had fun engaging in new physical experiences. During our time in the gym, they participated in a variety of exercises that supported their coordination, balance, and overall physical development. These activities not only help build strength and confidence but also encourage the children to try new challenges in a supportive environment.

今週は、教室の外でも体を動かしながらさまざまな経験を楽しむ一週間となりました。

スイミングでは、水に親しみながら水中での動きに少しずつ慣れ、新しい運動体験を楽しむ姿が見られました。また、ジムでの活動では、さまざまな運動に取り組み、体の使い方やバランス感覚、全身の発達を促す経験を積んでいます。

これらの活動は、体力や自信を育てるだけでなく、安心できる環境の中で新しいことに挑戦しようとする気持ちを育む機会にもなっています。

 A special highlight of the week was our very first whole-school birthday celebration. The children joined together with other classes to celebrate, creating a sense of community and shared joy across the school. There was great excitement as they experienced a larger group gathering, sang together, and took part in the celebration. Moments like these help the children feel a sense of belonging and connection beyond their own classroom.

今週の特別なハイライトは、初めての全校でのバースデーセレブレーションでした。子どもたちは他のクラスの友だちと一緒にお祝いをし、園全体で喜びを分かち合う温かい時間となりました。

大人数で集まる体験にワクワクしながら、みんなで歌を歌ったり、お祝いに参加したりと、とても楽しいひとときを過ごしました。

このような経験は、子どもたちが自分のクラスを越えて、園全体の一員であるという気持ちやつながりを感じる大切な機会となっています。

It has been a wonderful week of learning, movement, and celebration. We are so proud of how the children are growing in confidence, building their understanding of themselves, and enjoying new experiences together.

学びや運動、そしてお祝いの時間が詰まった、とても充実した一週間となりました。

子どもたちが自信を少しずつ育みながら、自分自身への理解を深め、友だちと一緒に新しい経験を楽しんでいる姿を、大変嬉しく、また誇らしく感じています。
