This week, the Savanna class continued our exciting Sharing the Planet unit by becoming young explorers! Through outdoor investigations, discussions, and hands-on activities, the children discovered that small creatures can be found in many different places. Their curiosity and enthusiasm grew with every new discovery, and it was wonderful to see them learning through observation and play.
小さな生き物、大きな発見！🐞🌿 SV 7/13–17
今週のSavannaクラスでは、「Sharing the Planet（地球の共有）」のユニットを引き続き学び、小さな探検家になって探究活動を楽しみました！戸外での観察や話し合い、体験活動を通して、子どもたちは小さな生き物がさまざまな場所で暮らしていることに気付きました。新しい発見をするたびに好奇心と探究心がさらに広がり、観察や遊びを通して生き生きと学ぶ子どもたちの姿がたくさん見られた一週間でした。
Our outdoor explorations took us to the park and around the school grounds, where the children searched for butterflies, dragonflies, ants, grasshoppers, bees, and many other fascinating small creatures. Every time they spotted something exciting, they couldn’t wait to call a teacher over with big smiles, saying, “Ms. Fronie, come here! I found a spider!” or “Ms. Shizuka, look! I saw a bee!” Their excitement was contagious and showed how engaged they were in their learning.
戸外での探究活動では、公園やスクール周辺を散策しながら、チョウやトンボ、アリ、バッタ、ハチなど、さまざまな小さな生き物を探しました。何かを見つけるたびに、子どもたちは満面の笑顔で「Ms. Fronie、来て！クモを見つけたよ！」「Ms. Shizuka、見て！ハチがいたよ！」と嬉しそうに先生を呼び、新しい発見を伝えてくれました。その生き生きとした姿からは、探究活動に夢中になっている様子がよく伝わってきました。
We also reflected on our previous visits to the riverside, Azumino Park, and Lavender Park by sorting photos and comparing which small creatures lived in each place. Their careful observations and discussions reflected the qualities of Thinkers as they made connections between different creatures and the places where they live.
また、これまで川辺やあづみの公園、ラベンダー公園で行った「小さな生き物探し」を振り返り、それぞれの場所で見つけた生き物の写真を分類したり、どの生き物がどこに住んでいるのかを比較したりしました。子どもたちは観察したことをもとに意見を出し合い、生き物とそのすみかとのつながりを考える姿が見られました。このような活動を通して、得た情報を関連付けて考える「考える人（Thinker）」としての姿が育まれていました。
During our Unit of Inquiry, the children drew small creatures they already knew and identified their body parts. Most of them were able to label features such as the eyes, legs, and wings of the creatures they drew. Later, during our schoolyard investigation, the children carefully observed small creatures in their natural habitats and recorded what they saw, where they found each creature, and what they noticed about them by drawing.
Our Show and Tell sessions have continued to be a highlight of the week. Since last week, the children have proudly shared fascinating creatures such as a baby shrimp, crayfish, a rhinoceros beetle, a frog, and a grasshopper, as well as books about small creatures. Their thoughtful questions, excitement to share, and eagerness to learn from one another demonstrated the Inquirer learner profile.
The children have also been enjoying the outdoor pool during the hot summer weather. They had lots of fun playing with sprinklers, dippers, plastic bottles, and hoops while staying cool with their friends.
UOIレッスンの時間には、子どもたちが知っている小さな生き物を描き、その体の部分について考えました。ほとんどのサバンナさんたちは、自分が描いた生き物の目や足、羽などの特徴を正しく描くことができました。その後の園庭での生き物探しでは、小さな生き物を注意深く探し、どこで見つけたのか、どのような様子だったのかを絵で記録しました。
今週も、Show and Tell は子どもたちにとって楽しみな時間となりました。先週から引き続き、ヌマエビの赤ちゃんやザリガニ、カブトムシ、カエル、バッタなどの小さな生き物や、小さな生き物に関する本を持ってきて紹介してくれました。友達の発表を聞きながら積極的に質問をしたり、自分の発見を嬉しそうに伝えたり、新しいことを知ろうとする姿から、「探究する人（Inquirer）」としての姿がたくさん見られました。
また、暑い夏の日には、戸外のプール遊びも楽しみました。スプリンクラーや水くみ用のおもちゃ、ペットボトル、フープなどを使って友達と元気いっぱいに遊び、涼しさを感じながら夏ならではの活動を満喫しました。
In music, the children used Do-Re-Mi to play “Let’s Eat Delicious Bread“ on their pianicas. Everyone enjoyed the song and is becoming more confident in playing their instruments.
ミュージックレッスンでは、ピアニカを使って「おいしいパンたべよう」を「ド・レ・ミ」の音で演奏しました。子どもたちは楽しみながら演奏に取り組み、少しずつ自信を持って正しい指で正しい音を奏でることができるようになってきています。「ぶんぶんぶん」と「アイスクリームの歌」も大きな声で歌う事が出来ました！
