We had our maiden pool activity this week. The students were filled with excitement as they prepared for their first pool experience. Their enthusiasm could be seen as they got ready and eagerly entered the water. Once in the pool, they explored and played with a variety of resources, including watering cans, scoops, perforated bottles, hoops and bowls.
今週は、子どもたちが楽しみにしていた今年度初めてのプール活動を行いました。
初めてのプールに向けて準備をする子どもたちは、期待でいっぱい！「早く入りたい！」という気持ちが表情や様子から伝わってきました。プールに入ると、水の感触を楽しみながら、じょうろやスコップ、穴の開いたボトル、フープ、ボウルなど、さまざまな道具を使って思い思いに遊びました。
水をすくったり流したり、水が穴から出てくる様子をじっくり観察したりと、それぞれが水遊びならではの発見を楽しみながら、笑顔いっぱいで活動することができました。
The students engaged with the materials in different ways. Some collected water from the pool, lifted it up, and watched with fascination as the water trickled through the holes of the bottles. Their excitement was evident as they called out to the teacher, “Look!” while sharing their discoveries. Others crawled through the water, pretending to be alligators and crocodiles, while some enjoyed tossing balls from one side of the pool to the other. The activity provided opportunities for exploration, imagination, movement, and social interaction as the children discovered different ways to engage with the water and materials.
子どもたちは、それぞれの興味に合わせてさまざまな遊び方を楽しんでいました。
プールの水を容器ですくい上げ、穴の開いたボトルから水が流れ落ちる様子を夢中で見つめる姿も見られました。「見て！」と先生を呼び、自分が発見したことを嬉しそうに伝えてくれる場面もたくさんありました。
また、ワニやアリゲーターになりきって水の中を這って進んだり、ボールをプールの反対側まで投げて楽しんだりする子どもたちもいました。
水やさまざまな道具に触れながら、子どもたちは遊びの中で自由に試したり、想像を膨らませたり、体をたくさん動かしたりしながら、友達との関わりも楽しんでいました。それぞれが自分なりの遊び方を見つけ、水遊びならではの発見や楽しさを存分に味わうことができました。
As we prepare for our next unit, Sharing the Planet, the children have begun noticing the changes happening in the classroom environment. Many have shown keen interest in how the classroom is gradually being transformed to introduce the new unit. Some children have noticed the change of books in the library corner and have started engaging with the new resources.
来週から始まる新しいユニット「Sharing the Planet（地球の共有）」に向けて、教室の環境も少しずつ変化しています。
子どもたちは、その変化にすぐに気付き、「何が変わったのかな？」と興味津々の様子です。特にライブラリーコーナーの絵本が新しくなったことに気付いた子どもたちは、さっそく手に取ってページをめくり、新しい絵本を楽しみながら動物や自然への関心を広げています。
これから始まる探究への期待が少しずつ高まり、子どもたちは新しい学びに向けてわくわくした気持ちで準備を進めています。
Their curiosity and excitement are already emerging through their words and questions. We have begun hearing children say phrases such as “This is giraffe,” “This is elephant,” “What is this?”, “Two zebra,” “Touch the animal,” Duck, duck, same and “Fish.” These early interactions show their readiness to engage in the new learning journey.
子どもたちの好奇心や新しいユニットへの期待は、日々の言葉や質問の中にも表れ始めています。
新しく用意した教材や絵本を見ながら、「This is giraffe.」「This is elephant.」「What is this?」「Two zebra.」「Touch the animal.」「Duck, duck, same.」「Fish!」など、自分の知っている英語を使って楽しそうに話す姿がたくさん見られるようになりました。
こうした子どもたちの何気ない言葉ややり取りから、新しいことを知りたい、もっと学びたいという気持ちが育っていることを感じます。これから始まる「Sharing the Planet」の探究を通して、子どもたちが動物や自然についてさらに興味を広げ、多くの発見を重ねていけることを楽しみにしています。
To support our exploration of Sharing the Planet, we will also be introducing songs that will help the children connect with the concepts and vocabulary of the unit in meaningful and engaging ways. Here are some of the songs we will be singing throughout the course of the unit.
「Sharing the Planet（地球の共有）」の探究を深めるために、ユニットを通してさまざまな歌も取り入れていきます。
歌を通して、子どもたちは動物や自然に関する言葉やユニットの概念に親しみながら、楽しんで学びを深めていきます。音楽に合わせて歌ったり体を動かしたりすることで、子どもたちの興味や理解をさらに広げていきたいと考えています。
