We have had a really fun and interesting week this week! We have been looking more deeply into our unit of inquiry, and talking more about animals. What animals we know, what animals we like, and how animals act. We even spent time using our bodies to express ourselves and pretended to be a variety of different animals! Dogs, cats, horses, lizards, elephants and even camels!

今週も、とても楽しく、わくわくする一週間を過ごしました！
Waterfallでは、「動物」についてさらに知識を深める、フラッシュカードを用いてたくさん話し合いをしました。「この動物は何っていう名前かな？」「好きな動物は？」「この動物はどんなふうに動くのかな？」「この足跡はどの動物？」など、さまざまなことを考え真似をしながら探究を進めました。また、自分たちの体を使って表現する活動にも挑戦し、いろいろな動物になりきって遊びました。犬や猫、馬、トカゲ、ゾウ、そしてラクダまで、さまざまな動物の動きを楽しみながら表現しました。
We also looked into what a farm is, and what types of animals live on farms. We then talked about how those animals might connect to our everyday lives. Students were really interested to talk about the animals that they knew and also weren’t familiar with.
また、「農場（Farm）」とはどんな場所なのか、そして農場にはどのような動物が暮らしているのかについても学びました。農場の動物が私たちの日常生活とどのようにつながっているのかについて話し合いました。子どもたちは、知っている動物について嬉しそうに話したり、初めて知る動物に興味を示したりと、とても意欲的に参加していました。
Students have also been really enjoying singing together. Last week we started singing “Old MacDonald” but now students are creating their own original versions. Like “Old MacDonald had a Dolphin” or “Old MacDonald had a Lion”! This got us really curious about what sounds different animals make. This will continue to be a fun area of our inquiry!
また、子どもたちはみんなで歌を歌うこともとても楽しんでいます。先週は「Old MacDonald Had a Farm」を歌い始めましたが、今では子どもたち自身がオリジナルバージョンを作っています。例えば、「Old MacDonald had a”Dolphin”」や「Old MacDonald had a “Lion”」など、自由な発想で歌詞を考えて楽しんでいます。この活動を通して、「動物はどんな鳴き声をするのかな？」という新たな疑問が生まれ、探究がさらに広がっています。これからも楽しく学びを深めていきたいと思います。
We have also been spending valuable time outside, playing with water, and exploring the properties of water while in the pool. Students have also been getting better and better at getting changed by themselves, as well as cleaning up by themselves. Good job everyone!
The Waterfall students are definitely more used to the routine and environment now, and I can see students feel more confident to speak about their opinions, and take risks expressing new ideas. It’s great to see so much development in such a short amount of time.
また、戸外で過ごす時間も大切にし、水遊びやプール活動を通して、水の性質を楽しみながら探究しています。プールの中では、クロコダイルになりながら、全身で水に親しんでいます。子どもたちは、自分で着替えをしたり、使ったものを片付けたりすることも、日に日に上手になっています。
新しい環境や生活の流れにもすっかり慣れ、自信を持って自分の考えを伝えたり、新しいアイデアを積極的に表現したりする姿が増えてきました。短い期間の中でも、一人ひとりの大きな成長が見られ、とてもうれしく思っています。
