This UOI is coming to an end, and students are busy wrapping up their projects while reflecting on all they have learned throughout the unit. Their naturally made insect bracelets are a charming and meaningful way for them to remember their connection to small creatures and living things in the world around them.
このUOI（探究の単元）も終わりに近づき、生徒たちは単元を通して学んだことを振り返りながら、プロジェクトの仕上げに励んでいます。自然の素材で作った昆虫のブレスレットは、身近な小さな生き物や自然界の生物とのつながりを心に留めておくための、素敵で意義深い記念の品となっています。
Later in the unit, the students explored stories about various small creatures through leveled readers like ‘Duck Gets Stuck’ and ‘Pet Panic.’ They worked collaboratively to help each other blend the words and engaged in discussions about the stories to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge. Shooting Star students also used extra time to read “I Don’t Want to Be a Frog,” which encouraged them to think more about the different animals they eat and how those animals look.
単元の後半では、『Duck Gets Stuck』や『Pet Panic』といったレベル別リーダー（読書用教材）を通して、様々な小さな生き物に関する物語に触れました。生徒たちは協力して単語の音を合わせる練習（ブレンディング）に取り組んだり、物語について話し合ったりすることで、理解や知識を深めました。また、空き時間には『I Don’t Want to Be a Frog』という絵本も読み、様々な動物の姿や特徴について考えを巡らせるきっかけとなりました。
This unit has focused on developing strong thinking and research skills, both as individuals and as part of a team. Students have taken on expanded responsibilities, such as the role of Calendar Helper during Morning Circle. In addition to their usual duties, they now take attendance and help each other remember how they all go home in the afternoon. As Shooting Star students continue to build their skillset and agency in preparation for next year, it is important for them to observe, remember, and act on information independently.
この単元では、個人としてもチームの一員としても、思考力や探究力を高めることに重点を置いてきました。生徒たちは、「モーニング・サークル」でのカレンダー係といった、より大きな役割を担うようになりました。通常の役割に加え、今では自分たちで出席確認を行ったり、午後の下校方法をお互いに確認し合ったりしています。来年に向けてスキルや主体性を高めていく中で、情報を自ら観察し、記憶し、それに基づいて行動することが、シューティング・スタークラスの生徒たちにとって重要になっています。
With Sports Day fast approaching, Shooting Star and Milky Way students are eagerly practicing their skills together. Although there are still surprises planned for the big day, this week they were excited to march, dance, and run in sync. They quickly learned how to perform smooth hand-offs in the relay race and collaborated effectively to organize the lineup for the group dance. Also, a brief break in the weather gave Shooting Star students the chance to jump at the opportunity to go to the park. Everyone enjoyed playing on the See-Saw and exploring the numerous puddles left behind by the rain, making the most of their outdoor time.
運動会が近づく中、シューティング・スターとミルキー・ウェイ（Milky Way）の生徒たちは、力を合わせて熱心に練習に励んでいます。当日に向けたサプライズも用意されていますが、今週は皆で息を合わせて行進やダンス、かけっこをすることに意欲的に取り組んでいました。リレーではスムーズなバトンパスのコツをすぐに習得し、集団ダンスの隊形作りでも互いに協力し合いました。さらに、天候が一時的に回復した際には、その好機を逃さず公園へ出かけました。シーソーで遊んだり、雨上がりの水たまりを探索したりと、皆で屋外での時間を存分に楽しみました。
