Welcome to this week’s blog! We are excited to share our wonderful learning adventures and special activities with you!
In our Unit of Inquiry this week, we began Line of Inquiry 2, where we explored the roles and responsibilities within families. To start, we discussed the children’s roles at school. Some shared that their responsibilities include sitting nicely, singing with a big voice, walking properly in the classroom and hallway, listening to their teachers, and holding their chopsticks properly. It was wonderful to see that at such an early age, our little ones already understand their roles and responsibilities at school!
Next, we discussed the different chores and responsibilities of family members at home, such as who cooks, who helps clean the house, and how each family member contributes. We were so happy to hear that some of our students are already helping their parents by wiping the table, cleaning the house, cooking, cleaning up their toys, and organizing their rooms. Thank you for sharing, Shooting Star! We are so proud of how independent, responsible, and principled you are!
For our activity, the children worked in pairs to choose pictures showing different household chores and sort them according to which family member they believed usually performs those roles at home. These chores included cooking, driving, taking care of the baby, washing the dishes, shopping, and more. This engaging activity helped the children begin to understand that every family member contributes in different ways and that each role is important in creating a happy and supportive home.

UOIでは、LOI2「家族における役割と責任」についての探究を始めました。まずは、園での自分たちの役割について考えてみました。かっこよく座る、大きな声で歌う、クラスや廊下を歩く、先生の話を聞く、お箸を正しく使うなど、たくさんの意見が出ました。日々の生活の中で、自分の役割をしっかり理解している姿に成長を感じます！！
そして今度は、おうちでの役割についても話し合いました。ごはんを作る人、お掃除をする人、などを考える中で、「テーブルを拭いてるよ！」「おもちゃを片付けてる！」と、お手伝いについて嬉しそうに教えてくれる子どもたちの姿も見られました。さすがShooting Starさんたち！自分でできることが増え、責任感を持って行動する姿がとってもかっこいいですね✨
ペアになって、家事の写真（料理・運転・赤ちゃんのお世話・食器洗い・お買い物など）を見ながら、「これは誰がすることが多いかな？」と話し合い、分けてみました。それぞれの考えを伝え合う中で、「おうちによって違うんだね」といった気づきにもつながっていました。これらの活動を通して、家族の中でそれぞれが大切な役割を持ち、支え合っていることを感じることができました💡
As part of our celebration of Children’s Day, we learned that this special occasion honors children’s happiness, growth, and well-being while celebrating their unique personalities and bright futures. To mark this meaningful event, the children created a fun and colorful craft activity. They carefully decorated paper towels using vibrant markers, expressing their creativity through different colors and designs. Afterward, they sprayed the paper towels with water and excitedly watched as the colors beautifully spread and blended together, creating unique and artistic patterns. This enjoyable activity not only allowed the children to explore creativity and self-expression but also made our Children’s Day celebration even more special and memorable.
こどもの日が、子どもたちの幸せや成長を願い、一人ひとりの個性や未来をお祝いする日であることを学びました。今回はにじみ絵の技法を使って鯉のぼりを作りました。子どもたちはカラフルなマーカーを使って、ペーパータオルに思い思いの色や模様を描き、自由に表現を楽しみました。その後、水を吹きかけると、色がじわっと広がり混ざり合う様子に「わあ！」と嬉しそうな声がたくさん聞こえてきました。
しっぽの形ははさみを使って切り、折り紙でかぶと作りにも挑戦しました。みんな個性あふれる素敵な作品を作ることができました😊おうちで特別なこどもの日を過ごせるといいですね♪
We also had some energetic and fun time at the park♡ With spring flowers all around and fresh, pleasant air, the children happily enjoyed moving their bodies and playing freely outdoors♪
