Shop Role-Play and Reusing Materials

Over the past few weeks, the students have been working very hard creating items for our classroom shop role-play using reused and recycled materials. This week, the children began fully bringing their ideas to life by becoming shop customers and cashiers.

The classroom was full of excitement as the students used shopping bags, exchanged items, and practiced buying and selling in their pretend shop. The students became deeply engaged in their play, using their imagination and creativity to make the experience feel real.

This role-play also connects closely to our UOI learning about the 3Rs. By using old boxes, paper, and other reused materials to create items for the shop, the students are putting the idea of “reuse” into action in a meaningful and natural way. Through this experience, they are beginning to understand that old materials can be transformed into something new and useful instead of being thrown away.

The activity is also helping to develop communication skills, independence, creativity, and teamwork as the students interact with each other and solve problems together during play.

ここ数週間、子どもたちは廃材やリサイクル素材を使いながら、お店屋さんごっこのための商品作りを一生懸命進めてきました。そして今週は、実際にお客さんや店員さんになって遊びを広げていきました。

買い物袋を持って商品を選んだり、お金のやり取りをしたりしながら、教室はとても活気のある雰囲気になっていました。子どもたちは想像力を働かせながら、夢中になって活動していました。

このお店屋さんごっこは、UOIで学んでいる３Rとも深くつながっています。古い箱や紙などの素材を使って商品を作ることで、「リユース」を実際の活動の中で体験しています。

「捨てる」のではなく、「新しいものとして生まれ変わらせる」という考えを、遊びを通して少しずつ理解し始めています。また、この活動を通して、コミュニケーション力や自主性、創造力、協力する力も育っています。

Dance Lesson

In dance class, the routines are becoming more challenging as we continue learning new steps and movements. The students are working very hard to remember the dances and follow along carefully.

Even when some of the moves are difficult, everyone is doing their best and showing great perseverance. It has been wonderful to see the students gaining confidence and enjoying the challenge together.

ダンスレッスンでは、新しいステップや動きが増え、少しずつ難しくなってきています。子どもたちは振り付けを覚えようと、一生懸命取り組んでいます。

難しい動きにも挑戦しながら、最後まで頑張ろうとする姿がたくさん見られました。少しずつ自信を持って踊れるようになってきており、みんなで楽しく取り組んでいます。

UOI: Preparing Our Recycling Bins

This week, we continued working on our classroom recycling bins. The students decorated the boxes and carefully considered which pictures and designs would make it easy for others to understand what each recycling bin is for.

We are also preparing to visit other classes to explain what we have learned about the 3Rs. The students discussed what they wanted to say and practiced explaining their ideas together. Through this activity, they are developing confidence in speaking and learning how to share their understanding with others.

The students are beginning to see that learning can lead to action, and that they can help teach others how to care for the Earth.

今週も教室で使うリサイクルボックス作りを続けました。子どもたちは、「どのゴミ箱なのか」が分かりやすくなるように、絵やデザインを考えながら飾り付けをしました。

また、これから他のクラスを訪問して、自分たちが学んだ３Rについて発表する予定です。そのため、「何を伝えたいか」をみんなで話し合い、発表の練習も行いました。

この活動を通して、人前で話す自信や、自分たちの学びを相手に伝える力を育んでいます。子どもたちは、自分たちの学びが行動につながり、周りの人にも良い影響を与えられることを少しずつ感じ始めています。
