今朝もいつも通り、みんなで朝食を囲みながらその日のスケジュール確認と目標設定を行いました。本日の新メニューは「ホットクロスバン」！オーストラリアでは間もなく4月5日のイースターを迎えます。多文化国家であるオーストラリアでは、この時期になると街のあちこちでイースター関連の商品や装飾を目にすることができます。
ホットクロスバンは、表面に十字模様が入った伝統的なイースターのパンで、レーズンやスパイスが入った少し甘い味わいが特徴です。シナモン風味なので好みが分かれるかと思いましたが、児童たちは皆おいしそうに食べていました。
朝食後はクラスルームに移動し、DebateとPresentationの練習を行いました。プレゼンテーションについては、ご家庭でも準備やサポートをしていただいているおかげで、とても順調に進んでいます。ご協力いただきありがとうございます。
ランチには、オーストラリアの国民的フードであるミートパイをいただきました。
手のひらほどの大きさのミートパイを一人ひとつずつ食べました。中身はチキンまたはビーフから選ぶことができ、ビーフは少しカレー風味のスパイスが効いた味付け、チキンはクリームベースの優しい味わいでした。今回はチキンの方が児童たちには人気だったようです。
昼食はHyde Parkでピクニックスタイルで楽しみました。自然豊かなオーストラリアではピクニック文化がとても身近で、青空の下で食べるランチは特別な時間となりました。
午後はAustralian Museumで英語ガイドツアーに参加しました。
展示を見学しながらガイドの説明に耳を傾け、オーストラリアの自然や文化について理解を深める貴重な機会となりました。英語での説明にも積極的に向き合い、自ら質問する姿も多く見られました。
ぜひ写真をご覧いただきたいのですが、児童たちが最も盛り上がっていたのは恐竜展示エリアでした。迫力ある展示やリアルな質感に感動し、夢中になって見学していました。
そして、いよいよ明日はNaraweena Public SchoolでのDebate & Presentation本番です！
まだ緊張している様子はあまり見られませんが、明日は自信を持って発表し、挑戦することが何よりも大切です。他の児童と比較するのではなく、それぞれが自分自身の目標を達成できるよう頑張ってほしいと思います。
明日の活躍がとても楽しみです！
This morning, the students gathered for breakfast as usual while reviewing the day’s schedule and setting personal goals. Today’s special breakfast item was a Hot Cross Bun!
Easter is just around the corner on April 5, and as Australia is a multicultural country, Easter decorations and seasonal products can be seen everywhere during this time of year.
Hot Cross Buns are traditional sweet buns eaten during the Easter season. They are marked with a cross on top and typically contain raisins and spices. Since they have a cinnamon flavor, we expected mixed reactions, but the students all enjoyed trying this traditional Australian treat.
After breakfast, the students headed to the classroom for another session of Debate and Presentation practice.
The presentations are progressing very well, thanks in part to the support many families provided before the trip. We truly appreciate your assistance and preparation.
For lunch, the students enjoyed one of Australia’s most iconic foods—Meat Pies.
Each student had their own pie, choosing either chicken or beef. The beef pie featured a mildly spiced, curry-like flavor, while the chicken pie had a creamy filling. The chicken option proved to be the most popular among the students.
Lunch was enjoyed picnic-style at Hyde Park. Outdoor picnics are a popular part of Australian culture, and the students enjoyed eating together in the beautiful natural surroundings.
In the afternoon, the group participated in a guided English-language tour at the Australian Museum.
As they explored the exhibits, students listened carefully to the guide’s explanations and learned more about Australia’s natural environment and cultural history. Many students actively engaged with the tour by asking thoughtful questions in English.
One exhibit stood out above all others—the dinosaur gallery! The students were amazed by the realistic displays and impressive fossils, and it quickly became the highlight of the museum visit.
Tomorrow is finally the big day—Debate and Presentation Day at Naraweena Public School!
The students do not seem overly nervous yet, but our goal is for each child to present with confidence and embrace the challenge. Rather than comparing themselves to others, we hope they focus on achieving their own personal goals and celebrating their growth.
