UOI: Pollution Dioramas
This week, we reviewed what we have learned about pollution and began creating pollution dioramas. The students wanted a way to show what they know, so they worked together to plan and design scenes that represent land, water, and air pollution. Everyone had wonderful ideas and showed great creativity while discussing how pollution affects our environment. We will continue working on our dioramas over the next few days and are excited to see the finished projects.
今週は、これまで学んできた汚染について振り返り、自分たちの学びを表現するために汚染のジオラマ作りを始めました。子どもたちは、土地汚染・水質汚染・大気汚染をどのように表現するかを話し合いながら、協力して計画を立てました。たくさんの素敵なアイデアが出され、環境に与える影響についても考えながら制作を進めています。これから数日かけて完成を目指していきます。
Reading and Phonics
This week, we continued using our RAZ books during reading lessons and reviewed our phonics skills. The students practiced reading CVC words and were introduced to CVCe (Magic E) words. They are becoming more confident readers and are beginning to notice patterns in words. It has been wonderful to see their excitement as they develop their reading skills.
今週もRAZブックを使ったリーディング活動やフォニックス学習を行いました。子どもたちはCVCワードの復習をしながら、新しくCVCe（マジックE）の単語にも挑戦しました。少しずつ単語のルールに気付き、自信を持って読めるようになってきています。子どもたちが楽しみながら読書に取り組む姿がたくさん見られました。
Another Adventure at Nakano Campus
This week, we enjoyed another exciting visit to Nakano Campus. The students spent time exploring the beautiful natural areas around the school and observing the plants, insects, and other living things they found. As part of our UOI learning, we revisited the idea of pollution and discussed what might happen if these natural spaces became polluted. The students shared thoughtful ideas about how pollution could affect animals, plants, and the environment, helping them make connections between our classroom learning and the world around them.
We also had the opportunity to join a lesson with the Grade 1 students about making healthy food choices. The students learned about different types of foods and discussed ways to make healthy decisions at mealtimes. This connected nicely to our learning about the 3Rs, as we talked about how finishing our lunch and only taking what we need can help reduce food waste. It was wonderful to see the students learning alongside the older students and making meaningful connections to our Unit of Inquiry.
今週は、再び中野キャンパスを訪問しました。子どもたちは学校周辺の豊かな自然の中を探検し、植物や虫などさまざまな生き物を観察しました。UOIの学習の一環として、「もしここにたくさんのゴミや汚染があったらどうなるだろう？」ということについても考えました。子どもたちは、汚染が動物や植物、自然環境にどのような影響を与えるのかについて自分の考えを共有し、教室での学びと実際の自然を結び付けることができました。
また、小学1年生と一緒に「健康的な食事の選び方」について学ぶ機会もありました。さまざまな食べ物について学び、健康によい選択について考えました。この学習は、３Rの学びともつながっています。必要な分だけ食べ物を取り、給食を残さず食べることが、食品ロスを減らすことにつながるということについても話し合いました。年上のお兄さん、お姉さんたちと一緒に学びながら、UOIとのつながりを見つけることができました。
