This week was filled with exciting opportunities for learning, exploration and play as the children engaged in a variety of hands-on experiences both indoors and outdoors.

One of the highlights of the week was our mud play activity. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the texture and properties of mud through sensory play. They used their imaginations to create, mix, scoop, and experiment while working alongside their friends. Mud play encouraged creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving while providing opportunities for social interaction and cooperative play. The children had lots of fun getting their hands messy as they explored the natural world around them.

The children also participated in an energetic gym session. They took part in a variety of movement activities designed to develop their balance, coordination, strength, and body awareness. One of the activities involved kicking a ball and then quickly sitting on it to stop it from moving. This fun challenge encouraged the children to practise coordination, timing, balance, and body control while following instructions. The children showed great enthusiasm and determination as they worked on these important gross motor skills.

Music time was another favourite activity this week. The children sang songs, listened to different rhythms, and moved their bodies to the music. Through music, they developed listening skills, rhythm awareness, memory, and self-expression. The children enthusiastically joined in with actions and movements, creating a joyful and engaging learning experience for everyone.

As our current unit of inquiry is gradually coming to a close, the children participated in a body-part coloring activity and drawing faces as a review of their learning. They identified and colored different parts of the body while recalling the vocabulary and concepts we have explored throughout the unit. This activity provided an opportunity for the children to reflect on what they have learned while continuing to develop their fine motor skills, concentration, and confidence in expressing their understanding.

It has been a wonderful week filled with exploration, movement, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences. We are proud of the children’s enthusiasm and look forward to celebrating the conclusion of our unit together.
