It has been another fun and meaningful week in Rainforest Class!
今週もRainforestクラスでは、楽しく充実した学びの時間を過ごすことができました！

In addition to exploring our current Unit of Inquiry, the Rainforest students continue to enjoy co-constructing their learning through the learning centers prepared in the classroom. A variety of materials are available for them to choose from based on their interests and learning goals. There are whiteboards for practicing writing, books for developing reading skills, craft materials to encourage creativity, and many other hands-on learning opportunities.

These centers provide students with opportunities to develop their self-management, communication, and thinking skills while exercising voice, choice, and ownership of their learning. It is always wonderful to see them engaged, motivated, and confidently exploring different ways to learn. As Inquirers and Thinkers, they continue to ask questions, make connections, and deepen their understanding through play and exploration.

現在取り組んでいる探究ユニットの学習に加え、子どもたちは教室内に用意されたラーニングセンターを通して、自ら学びをつくり上げる活動を楽しんでいます。ラーニングセンターには、子どもたちが自分の興味や学習目標に合わせて選べるさまざまな教材や活動が用意されています。文字を書く練習ができるホワイトボード、読解力を育むための本、創造力を発揮できるクラフト材料など、多くの体験型学習の機会があります。

これらのセンター活動を通して、子どもたちは学びに対する主体性を発揮しながら、自己管理スキル、コミュニケーションスキル、そして思考スキルを伸ばしています。子どもたちが意欲的に取り組み、自信を持ってさまざまな学び方を探究している姿を見ることは、私たちにとって大きな喜びです。

また、IB学習者像の 「探究する人（Inquirer）」 や 「考える人（Thinker）」 として、子どもたちは問いを立てたり、学び同士を関連付けたりしながら、遊びや探究活動を通して理解を深め続けています。

This week, we also enjoyed another playdate with Minami’s Milky Way Class. Together, we visited Eco Neco, a recycling center where materials are processed and transformed into new resources. This experience supported our ongoing inquiry into how people’s choices can help care for the Earth.

The students had the opportunity to see what happens to recyclable materials after they are sorted and collected. The visit became even more meaningful as some students from both Milky Way and Rainforest brought recyclable items from home and experienced the recycling process firsthand. One of the most exciting parts of the trip was being able to explore some of the equipment used at the facility, including the forklift, weighing scale, and recycling collection areas.

The experience encouraged students to reflect on their own actions and consider how they can contribute to protecting the environment. Throughout the visit, they demonstrated the attributes of being Caring, Knowledgeable, and Principled learners as they explored real-world solutions for reducing waste and caring for our planet.

今週は、南松本キャンパスのMilky Wayクラスとのプレイデート（交流活動）も楽しみました。今回は一緒に Eco Necol（エコネコル） を訪れました。エコネコルは、回収された資源を処理し、新たな資源へと生まれ変わらせるリサイクル施設です。この体験は、「人々の選択がどのように地球を大切にすることにつながるのか」という現在の探究活動を深める貴重な機会となりました。

子どもたちは、リサイクル可能な資源が分別・回収された後、どのように処理されるのかを実際に見ることができました。さらに、Milky WayクラスとRainforestクラスの数名の子どもたちが家庭からリサイクル品を持参し、自分たちでリサイクルの流れを体験したことで、より意義深い学びとなりました。

見学の中でも特に子どもたちが興味を示したのは、施設で使用されている機械や設備を見学できたことです。フォークリフトや計量器、リサイクル品の回収エリアなどを間近で見ることができ、子どもたちは大変喜んでいました。

この体験を通して、子どもたちは自分たちの行動を振り返り、環境を守るために何ができるのかを考える機会を得ました。見学中は、IB学習者像の 「思いやりのある人（Caring）」、「知識のある人（Knowledgeable）」、そして 「信念をもつ人（Principled）」 としての姿を示しながら、ごみを減らし地球環境を守るための実社会での取り組みについて学ぶことができました。
