Welcome to this week’s class activities!
In our phonics lesson this week, we explored the CVC -ap word family. The students were invited to think of and share words that they believed belonged to the -ap family. Although many found it challenging to recall -ap words at first, they actively participated by suggesting English words and confidently sharing their ideas with the class. This demonstrated their willingness to communicate, take risks, and build on their prior knowledge. Through class discussion and teacher guidance, the students were able to identify the correct -ap words and deepen their understanding of the word family. To consolidate their learning, they completed a cut-and-paste activity, which allowed them to practice recognizing and sorting -ap words independently.

フォニックスでは、CVCの「-ap」ワードファミリーについて学びました。
まずは、「-ap がつく単語にはどんなものがあるかな？」とみんなで考えました。最初は少し難しそうな様子もありましたが、思いつく英単語を積極的に発表し、自分の考えを自信を持って伝える姿が見られました😊先生やお友だちと一緒に考えながら、-ap がつく単語への理解を深めることができました。最後は、単語を切って貼り分けるアクティビティにも挑戦！はさみの使い方もだいぶ上手になりました！楽しみながら単語を見分ける練習を行い、一人ひとりが意欲的に取り組んでいました✨
During our Gym Open Day this week, the students enthusiastically participated in a variety of fun and engaging physical activities alongside their families. It was wonderful to see their excitement, confidence, and teamwork as they completed different challenges. The event provided a meaningful opportunity for families to be involved in the children’s learning while promoting the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles. The students enjoyed sharing this special experience with their loved ones, making it a memorable and successful day for everyone.
そして今週はみんながとっても楽しみにしていたGym Open Dayがありました！
子どもたちは、おうちの方と一緒にさまざまな運動遊びに挑戦し、とても楽しそうな笑顔を見せてくれました😊活動の中では、一生懸命体を動かしたり、チャレンジを最後まで頑張ったり、おうちの方と協力する姿がたくさん見られました。保護者の皆さまにも子どもたちの普段の頑張りや成長をご覧いただくことができ、親子で一緒に楽しい時間を過ごせた素敵な一日となりました✨お忙しい中ご参加いただいた保護者の皆さま、ありがとうございました！
As part of our Star Festival (Tanabata) celebration this week, the students learned about the tradition and its significance. They enjoyed making a Tanabata craft and had the opportunity to think about and share their wishes with the class. Afterward, they wrote their wishes on colorful wish strips and proudly hung them on the bamboo tree. This meaningful activity encouraged creativity, self-expression, and an appreciation of Japanese culture while making the celebration enjoyable and memorable for everyone.
七夕の行事も楽しみました🎋✨子どもたちは、七夕の由来や意味についての紙芝居を楽しんだ後、七夕製作に取り組みました。歯ブラシを使い、絵の具を付けて指ではじくスパッタリングという技法を使って天の川（Milky Way）を作りました✨おりひめとひこぼしのお顔を描いたら、丸い色紙を折り合わせて向きに注意しながら貼り付け、天の川の両端に貼り付けました。「どんなお願いごとにしようかな？」と考えながら、自分のお願いをみんなの前で発表し、色とりどりの短冊に願いごとを書いて笹に飾りました😊
「プリキュアになれますように」「カブトムシが卵を産みますように」「メイクセットがほしいです」「イオンのお味噌汁を買いたい！」
一人ひとりのステキな願いが並び、季節の行事を楽しみながら、日本の文化に親しむことができました。子どもたちの笑顔と願いがあふれる、思い出に残る七夕の時間となりました✨🎋🌟
As we completed Unit 1, our students reflected on what it means to be Principled, one of the IB Learner Profile attributes. Throughout the unit, they showed responsibility, kindness, and a willingness to help others both at home and at school.To celebrate their growth and learning, each student received a Principled Certificate in recognition of being a responsible and helpful member of their family and school community. ✨We are so proud of how much they have grown over the past two months and look forward to seeing them continue to demonstrate these wonderful qualities throughout the year! 🌟
Unit 1の探究を終え、子どもたちはIBの学習者像の一つである「Principled（信念をもつ人）」を意識しながら、責任ある行動や思いやりのある行動をたくさん積み重ねてきました😊Unit 1の締めくくりとして、「家庭や学校コミュニティの中で、責任を持ち、周りの人を助けられる人」としての頑張りをたたえ、一人ひとりにPrincipled Certificateが贈られました✨これからも、学んだことを日々の生活の中で生かしながら、思いやりと責任感を持って行動できる子どもたちへと成長していってほしいと思います。🌟
