The Children of Aurora are learning about their bodies and how it helps us move through games, movement, and creative activities. When asked questions such as, “Where is your head?” many eagerly raise their hands and call out, “I got it!” During flashcard hunts and memory games, they match pictures to their own body parts and proudly count the cards they collect. These activities build English vocabulary, memory, counting, and communication skills.

For their craft activity, After reading the picture book “Teddy Bear”, the children cut out and assembled animal body parts to create their own bears. They arranged the pieces in different poses, giving each bear a unique personality. Afterward, they proudly showed their creations to the class and shared the names they had chosen and talked about how they can move with their body parts.

We visited Senryu-in Temple near the school. The children held hands as they walked, sharing what they noticed along the way, such as, “Water is flowing,” and, “Look, a bug!” At the temple, they were excited to see the koi swimming in the pond and called out, “It’s big!” and, “It’s black!” Before returning to school, they greeted the rows of Jizo statues. The visit gave the children many opportunities to observe, explore, and make new discoveries.

On July 10, we held a fire evacuation drill based on a simulated kitchen fire. When the alarm sounded, the children quickly put on their hats, covered their mouths with their hands or handkerchiefs, and calmly evacuated to the playground. They listened carefully and followed the instructions well. After returning to the classroom, Ms. Yukie introduced the “O-Ha-Shi-Mo-Chi” evacuation rules, and everyone reviewed them together.
