A Week of Learning, Apples and Autumn Adventures! 🍎🌙

This week, we have been creating posters to show our understanding of Nagano’s historical and geographical features, exploring how people and events have shaped and changed the region over time. We have also been writing historical fiction, bringing the past to life by including real historical details and clues in our story settings.

In Science, we have started learning about the phases of the Moon. The children have each brought home an observation sheet to record the Moon’s shape over the next few weeks. Please support your child in observing the Moon and recording what they see. It will be interesting to compare our observations and discover how the Moon appears to change over time!

🍎 Friday’s Apple-Picking Adventure!

On Friday, we hopped on the bus for a special trip to go apple picking! The farmer taught us about the different apple varieties and how they grow. Each child had the chance to pick a Shinano Gold apple, as well as another apple to enjoy.

We then had a lovely surprise! We sat under the shade of the grapevines and enjoyed our apples, and the farmer kindly treated us to some Shine Muscat and Queen Rouge grapes, too. Eating delicious, freshly picked fruit beneath the vines was a pretty special experience!

Afterwards, we headed to the park for lunch and plenty of time to play. To make the day even sweeter, Riley had baked a carrot cake with lemon cream cheese icing for everyone to share. It was absolutely delicious! Riley is already turning into quite the budding chef. Thank you, Riley, for such a wonderful treat!

The weather was beautiful, and we had a fantastic day filled with fresh air, good food and happy memories. A lovely way to enjoy the autumn season together! 🍂
