“G1 Wasabi ice cream please?🍦”

Hello everyone. I hope that you all had a good weekend’s rest, as we saw the back of the typhoon. I hope that you went through it safely. This week, we continue to study our 3rd and final Line Of Inquiry for unit 2, and we will focus on things that we get from plants and why plants are so key to life. We will also be preparing for our Inquiry Fair on the 16th of July, as we hope that you are as excited about that as we are. Our swimming classes have been going well and they are fun. Thank you for coming to our parents-teacher conferences, your time and support are highly appreciated!

This past weekend’s homework was about some of the things that we can find at home, and originate from plants. The students did well with this activity, and other were able to bring these items to school. This was a good way for the students to actually see the things that come from plants, and how we use them.

We also had visitors from the lunch centre as they observed our lunch period. They observed how we prepare for lunch, how we enjoy our lunch, and other ways that we navigate our lunch period at ISN. The students even got the chance to handle a cooking tool that is similar to one that is used at the cooking centre.

This week, we began preparing for our Inquiry Fair which is coming up on the 16th of July. The students are working well in their teams, and we have quite a few things that we hope you’ll enjoy. This is also a great way for us to revise what we have learned during unit 2, and how we learned about Botany.

This week we added frames to our morning glory pots, and that means our plants are growing well and big. The students are pretty excited about this and they have done well to take good care of them. As we approach summer school the students will take them home for the summer holidays to continue to water them, and they will return them to school once school re-opens after the summer holidays.

We began the week off by visiting the Daio Wasabi Farm as a part of our Line Of Inquiry 3, and this is meant to connect our learning of this LOI with what we can actually experience. We saw many ways that plants play a big role in how we live and grow. We also saw how plants play a role in how animals live and grow, by providing shelter, food and more for animals.

We used our laptops to research the things that we get from plants. This was great for us, as we practised the Approaches To Learning Skills, Research skills, and Communication skills. Grade 1 students used Google really well as we continue preparing for the Inquiry Fair coming up next week. We are excited to see you soon.

Thank you once again for your continued support and guidance for our class and students. We are looking forward to seeing you soon, and I hope that you have a great weekend! Keep cool, and take care!
