ADVENTURES IN LEARNING- Shooting Star May 11th-14th

Hi, everyone!

Happy Mother’s Day to all our wonderful moms! Our little ones celebrated this special day by making a beautiful bouquet craft using their handprints. They also wrote sweet messages for their mothers to show how much they care and appreciate them. It was a heartwarming activity that allowed the children to express their love and gratitude in their own special way.

この特別な日をお祝いするために、シューティングスターの子どもたちは手形を使って花束のプレゼントを作りました。また、お母さんに伝えたい！という心のこもったメッセージも一生懸命書き、いつもありがとう、大好きだよ、の気持ちを表現しました😊一人ひとりが自分なりの方法で愛情や感謝の気持ちを伝える姿が見られ、とても心温まる時間となりました。誇らしそうに、とっても嬉しそうに取り組む様子が印象的でした♡

In our Unit of Inquiry, we continued our discussion about the roles and responsibilities within families. The children completed a worksheet activity where they sorted pictures into the correct categories and identified whether the actions helped the family or not. It was wonderful to see that the children already understand what it means to be principled and responsible. They showed a good understanding of how family members can help and care for one another.

UOIでは、引き続き「家族の中での役割や責任」についてみんなで考えました。ワークシートでは、絵カードを正しいカテゴリーに分けたり、その行動が家族の助けになるかどうかを考えたりしました。絵カードは自分ではさみで切り取りました。線の上でまっすぐ切れるようにと、丁寧に切っていたシューティングさん達です😊

活動の中では、子どもたちがすでに“思いやり”や“責任を持つこと”をよく理解している様子が見られ、とても素敵でした✨
「お手伝いする」「優しくする」など、家族がお互いに支え合うことについても、しっかり考えることができていました！

In our phonics lesson, we started our new topic about vowels and consonants. To begin the lesson, the students had an assessment activity where they chose a letter, showed it to the class, and shared its name and sound. They then sorted the letters into the correct categories: vowel or consonant. After the activity, we watched a video together to help the students check and confirm whether they categorized the letters correctly. It was a fun and engaging way to strengthen their understanding of letters and sounds.

Phonicsのレッスンでは、新しいトピック「母音（vowels）と子音（consonants）」について学び始めました。
まず最初に、子どもたちは好きなアルファベットを1つ選び、みんなの前で文字や音を発表しました✨その後、「母音かな？子音かな？」と考えながら、文字をそれぞれのカテゴリーに分ける活動に挑戦！その後に動画を見ながら、自分たちで答えを確認することができました。

楽しみながら文字や音への理解を深めることができ、子どもたちも意欲的に参加していました🎵

This month, we started our workstation time before our morning circle. The students were given different activity stations to choose from, such as writing, where they practiced name tracing; math, where they counted objects; reading; and developmental goals, where they practiced using regular chopsticks. These activities helped the children build their independence, strengthen their fine motor skills, and develop important academic skills in a fun and engaging way.

今月から、朝のサークルタイムの前に「ワークステーションタイム」を始めました✨子どもたちは、自分で好きなアクティビティを選びながら取り組んでいます。

ライティングでは名前のなぞり書き、Mathでは物の数を数える練習、Readingコーナー、そしてDevelopmental Goalsではお箸の練習など、それぞれのステーションで楽しく活動しました。子どもたちは自分で選んで取り組むことで主体性を育みながら、手先の力や集中力、そして学習につながる基礎的なスキルを楽しく伸ばしています😊

In our gym lesson, the children used hula hoops and enjoyed moving their bodies in many different ways✨ They had fun going around, and playing with the hoops while using their whole bodies. It was wonderful to see their bright smiles and happy expressions throughout the activity!
