Digging, Mixing and Exploring- Aurora (June 8-12)

Hello Parents and Friends,.

This week, the mornings and evenings have been quite chilly, while the daytime temperatures have become much warmer. As the weather continues to change throughout the day, we have been encouraging the children to stay comfortable and hydrated while enjoying outdoor activities.

One of the highlights of our week was our very first mud play experience! The children were excited to explore the muddy area and engage their senses through hands-on play. At first, some students were curious and cautious about touching the mud, while others eagerly jumped in and started creating their own mud masterpieces. They enjoyed digging, mixing water and soil, making mud cakes, playing cars in the puddle and discovering different textures.

Mud play provided many opportunities for learning. The children practiced cooperation as they shared tools and materials with their friends. They also used their imagination and creativity to create different shapes and pretend-play scenarios. Through this experience, the students developed their fine motor skills, and confidence in exploring the natural environment. To stay cool in the warm weather, the children also enjoyed a refreshing shower provided by the teachers.

It was wonderful to see their smiles, laughter, and excitement as they embraced the messy fun. We look forward to enjoying more outdoor adventures and nature-based learning experiences in the coming weeks.

Thank you for providing the children’s extra clothes and supporting our outdoor activities. We truly appreciate your cooperation.

UOI Lesson

We also continued our IB Unit of Inquiry, Who We Are, focusing on our third Line of Inquiry: We are different from others. As a continuation of last week’s activity, the children measured their heights and created life-sized drawings of their bodies. They carefully observed themselves and added facial features such as their eyes, nose, mouth, hair, and other unique characteristics. Through this activity, the students developed a greater understanding of their individual identities and recognized that each person is special and different from their friends. It was wonderful to see them proudly share their creations and appreciate the unique qualities that make each of them who they are.

MY FAVORITE PLATE

The children also completed a worksheet about their favorite foods. Using their imagination and creativity, they drew the foods they enjoy eating and proudly shared their drawings with their friends. They practiced their communication skills by naming and talking about their favorite foods in front of the class. This activity helped the students express their preferences while building their confidence in speaking and sharing ideas with others.

Have a wonderful weekend with your family, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week!
