Nagano Environmental Energy Center
One of the highlights of this week was our visit to the Nagano Environmental Energy Center. This field trip gave the students an opportunity to connect their classroom learning about the 3Rs with the real world. Throughout our Unit of Inquiry, we have been exploring how our choices can help care for the Earth, and the center helped bring these ideas to life.
The students learned about what happens to our waste after it leaves our homes and school. They observed how different materials are sorted and processed and discovered why reducing waste and recycling are important. Many students were surprised by the amount of rubbish that is produced and asked thoughtful questions about how they can help protect the environment.
The visit sparked many discussions and helped students make deeper connections between their actions and the health of our planet. It was wonderful to see their curiosity and excitement as they explored the center and reflected on what they had learned.
今週の大きなハイライトの一つは、長野環境エネルギーセンターへの見学でした。この校外学習では、これまで教室で学んできた３Rの学びを実際の世界と結び付けることができました。
子どもたちは、家庭や学校で出されたゴミがその後どのように処理されるのかについて学びました。ゴミの分別や処理の仕組みを見学し、なぜゴミを減らしたりリサイクルしたりすることが大切なのかを考えることができました。
たくさんのゴミが出ていることに驚いた子どもたちは、「自分たちに何ができるかな？」と考えながら見学していました。今回の訪問を通して、自分たちの行動が環境にどのような影響を与えるのかをより深く考える良い機会となりました。
Ippongi Rose Park
Later in the week, we visited Ippongi Rose Park. The students were amazed by the beautiful roses and enjoyed looking at the many different colors and shapes. They also took time to smell the flowers and share which roses they liked best.
As part of our UOI learning, we discussed why the park was so beautiful and well cared for. The students noticed how clean the park was and talked about how people help protect the environment by looking after public spaces and not littering. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect our learning about caring for the Earth with a real-life example.
After exploring the rose garden, the students had a fantastic time playing on the large playground. We then traveled to Nakano Campus, where we enjoyed lunch and spent time playing with the elementary students. It was lovely to see the children interacting kindly and confidently with older students while enjoying a fun day together.
一本木公園（バラ園）
今週は一本木公園のバラ園にも行きました。子どもたちは色とりどりの美しいバラに大興奮でした。さまざまな色や形のバラを見たり、香りを楽しんだりしながら、それぞれお気に入りのバラを見つけていました。
また、UOIの学びと関連付けながら、「なぜこの公園はこんなにきれいなのかな？」についても話し合いました。子どもたちは、公園にゴミが落ちていないことや、きれいに手入れされていることに気付き、人々が環境を大切にしているからだという考えを共有していました。
バラ園を見学した後は、大きな遊具でたくさん遊びました。その後、中野キャンパスへ移動し、昼食を食べたり、小学部のお兄さんお姉さんたちと一緒に遊んだりしました。楽しく交流しながら、とても充実した一日を過ごすことができました。
