Hello, everyone!
This week, our little Rainbows started a new monthly theme: The Five Senses! 👀👂👃👅🖐️
We began by introducing the five senses and getting familiar with each word through colorful flashcards. It was the start of a new adventure as we talked a little about how we use our eyes to see, ears to hear, noses to smell, tongues to taste, and hands to touch and feel.
There is so much to discover around us, even in the little things we see and experience every day! Over the coming weeks, we will gradually explore each sense through fun activities, hands-on experiences, and lots of curiosity.
We’re excited to learn and discover together with our little Rainbows. Who knows what wonderful things we’ll find along the way? 💛
This week in Music, our little Rainbows had fun practicing two Japanese phrases: “Hai, douzo!” (Here you go!) and “Arigatou!” (Thank you!). Working in pairs, the children took turns giving and receiving a ball while saying these words along with the music. It was lovely to see them trying their best and enjoying these little exchanges with their friends. Through this activity, they also had a chance to practice sharing, taking turns, and using kind words with one another. 💛
We also went on an imaginary trip to the beach! Holding a string with a partner, the children pretended to make ocean waves. They moved the string from side to side to create small waves, then up and down to make big waves. There were lots of happy smiles and giggles as they moved along with the music! Some of our little ones got a little too excited and pulled their strings with all their might. What a fun way to explore movement, rhythm, and the difference between big and small!
This week in Gym, our little Rainbows started with our usual warm-up, copying different animal movements, stretching our bodies, and doing some happy jumps to get ready for the fun ahead!
Next, we took on an exciting obstacle course! The children challenged themselves to step across stepping stones, try ken-ken-pa through the rings, crawl through a tunnel, and jump through another set of rings. At first, some of the activities were a little tricky to understand, but as they watched, practiced, and gave it another try, they gradually got the hang of it. Soon, they were enjoying the circuit so much that it was hard to convince them that it was time to stop! ☺️
To finish our lesson, we played the Snatching-Tail Game! Three friends wore tails while the others chased them and tried to grab them. Everyone was eager to protect their own tail and catch their friends’ tails, too! Of course, there were a few big feelings when someone lost their tail, but these moments also gave us opportunities to practice handling disappointment, trying again, and learning to enjoy the game together.
Through these playful challenges, our Rainbows are building their coordination, balance, and confidence while learning about perseverance, turn-taking, and sportsmanship. Most of all, we love seeing them try their best, cheer each other on, and have fun moving their bodies! 💛.
