The students worked together and helped each other to wind colorful streamers up to make the tails for their Tanabata Festival stars. It was a fun and important practice in collaborative efforts to make flowing tails. Next week, they will try their hands at something a bit trickier—folding five-point origami stars! It will be a new challenge, but they are excited to give it a go and send the stars soaring in the sky.

One other star that has been soaring high through the sky this week is the sun! With its shining rays we’ve been motivated to enjoy the summer heat in the best way possible along with Milky Way. The students have been cooling off and having fun with refreshing water activities like playing on the water table, running in the sprinklers, and jumping in the paddle pool.

The Shooting Star students joined a spectacular birthday party to celebrate our newest birthday boy turning 5. Afterwards, the Milky Way students surprised everyone with a dazzling magic show and a colorful quiz, adding extra fun and excitement to the celebration!

Shooting Star students have practiced some new phonics sounds and have a new book that combines both old and new sounds in a charming story. Brett’s Dragon is an exciting short tale about taking risk in a daring flight and caring for a playful pet. While the students are developing the skills to read it themselves, enjoy the video and a chat perfect for bedtime! In class we talked about how the boy feels, how the dragon feels, and whether they would like to have a pet dragon!
