This week brought many rainy days, but the children were very happy whenever we got a break in the weather. As soon as the rain stopped, we heard excited voices calling, “Not rainy!” and “We can play outside!”
Once outside, the children became Curious Explorers, searching for living things and plants that appeared after the rain. Others used their creativity and imagination to make mud cakes in the wet sand. It was a wonderful opportunity to observe and learn through play.
今週は雨の日が多かったですが、雨が少し止むと、子どもたちはとても嬉しそうでした。「雨じゃない！」「外で遊べる！」という元気な声も聞こえてきました。
外に出ると、子どもたちは「好奇心ある探究者」になり、雨の後に見つかる生き物や植物を探しました。ぬれた砂で泥ケーキを作り、想像力や創造力を発揮する子どもたちもいました。遊びながらよく観察し、学ぶことができる素敵な時間になりました。
Every morning after arrival, and again after nap time, many of the children challenge themselves to write their names. They are becoming Growing Learners, building their fine motor skills and confidence little by little. Some children also showed their creativity by building dinosaurs with blocks or shaping them from clay. During our circle times, we continued revisiting and strengthening our learning about the body and movement.
毎朝の登園後とお昼寝の後には、多くの子どもたちが自分の名前を書くことに挑戦しています。「成長する学び手」として、指先を使う力や自信を少しずつ伸ばしています。ブロックで恐竜を作ったり、粘土で恐竜の形を作ったりして、創造力を見せてくれる子どもたちもいました。Circle Timeでは、体や動きについて学んだことをもう一度振り返りながら、理解を深めています。
Another cloudy day brought a welcome pause in the rain, giving us the chance to harvest vegetables from our school garden. The children were excited to see how big some of the potatoes had grown and how beautifully red the tomatoes had become! We were also a little surprised to discover so many ants hiding in the corn. It became another chance to observe closely and wonder about the natural world around us.
別の曇りの日には雨が少しお休みしてくれたので、学校の畑で野菜を収穫することができました。大きく育ったじゃがいもや、きれいに赤くなったトマトを見て、子どもたちは大喜びでした！とうもろこしの中にたくさんのアリがいることにも少しびっくりしました。身近な自然をよく観察し、「どうしてだろう？」と考える良い機会にもなりました。
This week, the children also made small figures using paper and pipe cleaners, then shared their creations with one another. Every figure was different, and it was fun and interesting to see the children’s ideas and personalities come to life.
今週は、紙とモールを使って小さな人形も作りました。完成した作品をお互いに見せ合いました。一つひとつ違う人形ができ、子どもたちのアイデアや個性が表れていて、とても楽しく興味深かったです。
As Sports Festival draws closer, our little Challengers have been practicing hard almost every day. This week, we tried on our costumes for the dance performance, decided the Red and White Team members, and practiced running through the full obstacle course in the gym. The children are working hard to build confidence, body control, and teamwork while preparing for the big day.
Sports Festivalが近づき、Auroraの小さな「チャレンジャー」たちは、ほぼ毎日一生懸命練習しています。今週は、ダンスの衣装を試着し、赤チームと白チームのメンバーを決め、体育館で障害物コースを最初から最後まで通して練習しました。本番に向けて、自信や体をコントロールする力、そしてチームワークを伸ばしながら頑張っています。
We ended the week with Music and movement. The children became little fish and “swam” around the room to the sounds of Ms. Satomi’s piano, listening carefully and moving their bodies with the changing music.
一週間の最後は、Musicと体を動かす活動を楽しみました。子どもたちは小さな魚になり、Satomi先生のピアノの音をよく聞きながら、音楽の変化に合わせて部屋の中を「泳ぎ」ました。
Later, Ms. Satomi introduced us to small wooden dragonflies that can balance on our fingertips. The children were fascinated as they carefully experimented with balance and tried to discover how the dragonflies could stay in place.
その後、Satomi先生が、指先の上でバランスを取ることができる小さな木のトンボを紹介してくれました。子どもたちはとても興味を持ち、どうしたら落ちずに止まっていられるのか、何度も試しながらバランスを確かめていました。
It was another busy week of exploration, creativity, movement, and discovery in Aurora!
