Fun Celebrations and Adventures! SV 5/25-5/29

This week was filled with exciting learning experiences, hands-on activities, celebrations, and a wonderful school trip. The children explored new concepts, worked together, and enjoyed many memorable moments both inside and outside the classroom.

On Monday, we had a birthday party for the children born in May, and one of our friends celebrated his 5th birthday. Everyone had a wonderful time listening to a story filled with different magic tricks and later watching Ms. Aya perform a real magic show. Everyone remembered the magic chant, “Andora, Indora, Undora!” It was a really fun birthday celebration. Happy, happy birthday to our June celebrants, too!

On Tuesday, we planted vegetable seedlings together. Savanna planted eggplants and bell peppers. We divided into groups and followed these steps: mix the soil, make holes in the soil, put the seedlings into the holes, and water the plants. We are all looking forward to harvesting the vegetables and celebrating with a pizza party in the future. They also enjoyed drawing eggplants and bell peppers after planting them. We will use their drawings to create a sign for the garden.

On Wednesday, we had our phonics lesson and learned about consonants and vowels. First, we looked at the alphabet flashcards and noticed that five letters were written in red while the rest were blue. After watching a video, we discovered that the red letters are called vowels and the blue ones are consonants. We also played games called “Touch the Vowel” and “Touch on the Consonant.” Everyone did a great job identifying vowels and consonants and understanding the difference between them. Next week, we will begin reading CVC words, and the children are excited to use their knowledge to start reading words.

In our UOI lesson, we continued preparing for our School Open Day presentation. The students created their own families, decided on their family roles, and discussed their responsibilities in the situations they chose to act out. They also created short stories, practiced their lines, and thought about the materials they need to carry out their responsibilities. Next week, we will add actions and movements to make the role play even more exciting and meaningful.

On Thursday, we had a traffic safety class and learned important ways to keep ourselves safe while walking on roads. The lesson became even more exciting because of our very cute special puppet guest, Ko-chan. We learned that we should never run into the road, even if our ball rolls there. We should always hold our parents’ hands while walking in parking lots. We also learned to stop at red lights, wait for the green man signal before crossing, look both right and left for cars, and always wear our seatbelts properly in the car seat. After the lesson, we went outside to practice crossing the road, and everyone did a wonderful job following the safety rules.

On Friday, we went on a bus trip to the Alps Park Zoo. We saw many different animals, and everyone was amazed to see monkeys, rabbits, wild boars, and deer. Aside from playing on various playground structures, the Savanna students were especially excited to eat their lunch boxes made with love by their parents. They were very happy and proud to show everyone their obentos. They also collected natural items around the park to bring home and show their parents. Another highlight of the trip was riding the long slides. It was so much fun watching them giggle and laugh as they felt the sliding motion and the friction on the way down.

Overall, it was a wonderful week full of learning, exploration, teamwork, and joy. The children showed great enthusiasm in every activity, and we are very proud of their efforts and growth. We look forward to another exciting week ahead!
