LEAF PRINTING- Canyon Oct. 21st-25th

What kids get from leaf printing?

This is a fun art activity where children can explore using paint to print natural objects. It allows them to explore how printing works, and also gives the opportunity to experiment with mixing colours. In addition, children the chance to examine the finer details of leaves in the process of printing. It is an opportunity for them to compare the similarities and differences between leaves.

Drawing allows the child to improve the motor coordination improving the needed for  planning and producing the different strokes used to form letters and numbers. It also helps to develop the strength and coordination in the shoulder, wrist and fingers needed for engaging in handwriting tasks.

This week, we conducted a “Stranger Danger Drill.” The police came to the campus to observe and give some lessons on what to do when a stranger approaches in the school. Someone pretended to be a stranger to test the students’ and teachers’ knowledge of what to do if something like this happens. They guided and taught us the things we need to remember when a stranger comes to the campus. Our little ones followed the rules well and shared their ideas about what a stranger is and what they need to do if they see a stranger at school or in their home.

PUPPET SHOW

There was a very interesting event this week. A group of people called the Hobos came to our campus and performed a puppet show. The play was called “Nezumi no Yomeiri” (The Mouse’s Wedding), and it was a very interesting play with various characters such as the sun, the wind, and the storehouse, in addition to the mouses. The characters’ movements were very interesting, and everyone was drawn into the small theater. It was a great opportunity to explore art through theater play, which we will be inquiring as the second unit of inquery in this Unit3.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
