ミルキーウェイクラスより、心温まるご挨拶を申し上げます。
今週も、子どもたちにとって学びにあふれた、とても充実した一週間となりました。地球を大切にし、環境を守るために私たちにできることについて、話し合いやさまざまなアクティビティを通して深く学びました。知識だけでなく、IBの学習者像の成長もたくさん見られた一週間でした。
学びの中でも特に印象的だったのが、松本クリーンセンターへの社会見学です。家庭や学校、さまざまな施設から出たごみがどのように安全に処理され、街の清潔さや環境保護につながっているのかを、実際の施設を見学しながら学ぶことができました。施設内を見て回る中で、子どもたちはクリーンセンターの人のお話を真剣に聞き、「ごみはどのくらいの時間燃えるの？」「どうしてクレーンのつめにタイヤがついているの？」など、次々と質問をしていました。その姿から、「探究する人（Inquirer）」「考える人（Thinker）」「コミュニケーションができる人（Communicator）」としての成長が感じられました。見学の最後には、みんなで記念写真を撮り、日々環境を守るために働いてくださっている職員の方々へ、感謝の気持ちを伝えました。
学校に戻ってからは、見学の振り返りを行い、クラス全員で感謝の気持ちを込めた素敵なポスターを制作しました。「お仕事ありがとう」「リサイクルについて学びました」「クリーンセンターを見せてくれてありがとう」といった温かいメッセージに加え、「リサイクルをします」「ごみはごみ箱に捨てます」「地球をきれいに保ちます」といった、子どもたち一人ひとりの大切な約束も書き込まれました。
ポスター作りの時間は、教室が活気と協力の雰囲気でいっぱいでした。メッセージを書くことに加えて、地球に色を塗ったり、リサイクルボックスなどの飾りを切り抜いたり、「どこに貼ろうか？」と相談しながら配置を考えたりと、みんなで力を合わせて取り組みました。中には、太陽や木、花など自然の絵を描いて、ポスターをさらに素敵に仕上げてくれた子どもたちもいました。アイデアを出し合い、助け合いながら、一つの目標に向かって取り組む姿は、とても心温まるものでした。

From Inquiry to Action: Caring for the Earth-Milky Way-May 18th-22nd
Dear Parents and Families,
Warm greetings from Milky Way Class!
What an exciting and meaningful week of learning we had together! Our young learners have been deeply engaged in exploring how we can care for our Earth and protect our environment. Through thoughtful discussions, collaborative activities, and inquiry-based learning, students showed wonderful growth not only in knowledge but also in the IB Learner Profile attributes.
One of the highlights of our learning journey was our field trip to the Matsumoto Clean Center. Students had the wonderful opportunity to visit the waste treatment facility where garbage from homes, schools, and other buildings is safely processed to help keep the city clean and protect the environment. As we explored the different areas of the facility, students listened carefully while the guide explained the important work being done there. It was wonderful to see many students confidently asking questions that came to their minds like, “How long does the waste burn?”, “Why does the big crane have tires around its claws? showing that they are becoming true Inquirers, Thinkers, and Communicators. We ended our tour with a happy group photo and a heartfelt thank-you to the staff for their hard work.
Back at school, we shared our reflections about the visit and students worked together to create a beautiful thank-you poster filled with kind messages such as “Thank you for your hard work,” “We learned how to recycle,” and “Thank you for showing us the Clean Center.” Students also made meaningful promises including “We will recycle,” “We will throw trash in the bin,” and “We will help keep the Earth clean. As students worked on the poster, the classroom became full of excitement and collaboration. Aside from writing their individual messages, students were busy coloring the Earth, cutting out recycling bins and other decorations, and thoughtfully discussing together where to place their messages on the poster. Some students happily drew sun, trees, flowers, and nature to make the poster even more beautiful and meaningful. It was truly heartwarming to watch the students share ideas, help one another, and work together toward one common goal. Excellent work, Milky Way!
3R（リデュース・リユース・リサイクル）についての探究をさらに深めるため、次の探究の流れである「ごみが環境に与える影響」に取り組みました。まず「環境」とは何かを話し合い、環境には土地・水・空気が含まれることを学びました。その後、動画視聴やクラスでの話し合い、視覚教材を通して**土壌汚染（ランドポリューション）**について探究しました。土壌汚染の原因や影響、そして地球を守るために私たちにできることについて学びました。
理解をさらに深めるため、子どもたちはWord Wallのアプリを使ったまとめゲームに挑戦しました。この活動は子どもたちに大人気で、チームワークを発揮しながら協力して考え、クラス全員で100％の正解を達成することができました。ここでは、チームワーク、思考力、そしてコミュニケーション力がしっかりと発揮されていました。
その後は、一人ひとりでワークシートに取り組み、土壌汚染の問題とその解決策を正しく結びつける活動を行いました。
地球を大切にしようとする気持ちを育みながら、意欲的に学び、協力し合うミルキーウェイの子どもたちの姿を、とても誇りに思います。これからも、好奇心と責任感をもって探究を続けていきます。
To continue our inquiry into the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), we moved into our second line of inquiry: How waste affects the environment. After discussing what an environment is and learning that it includes land, water, and air, we explored the topic of land pollution through videos, class discussions, and visual aids. We learned about the causes and effects of land pollution as well as ways to help protect our planet. To strengthen their understanding, students excitedly played a sorting game using the Word Wall app, which they absolutely loved! Through teamwork and collaborative thinking, the class proudly achieved a 100% score together, showing great Teamwork, Thinking Skills, and Communication. Students then worked independently on a matching worksheet activity where they matched land pollution problems with their solutions. We are so proud of our Milky Way learners for their enthusiasm, curiosity, teamwork, and growing sense of responsibility toward caring for our planet.
子どもたちは、RAZ本『They Look』を使ったリーディングの時間を、楽しく意欲的に取り組みました。はじめに、ボードに書かれた新しいハイフリークエンシー・ワード（サイトワード）をみんなで声に出して読み、文章に親しみながら自信をつけました。
その後、教師の読み聞かせに合わせて、目と指を使いながら一語一語を丁寧に追い、集中して読んでいました。続いて、友だち同士で一緒に読む活動にも挑戦し、お互いに励まし合いながら、チームワークと読むことへの自信を育みました。
最後には、教師と一緒に全員で読み進め、読みへの意欲と自立心が高まっている様子が感じられました。活動中の子どもたちの集中力、積極的な参加、そして読書を楽しむ姿がとても印象的でした。
難しい単語にも勇気をもって挑戦し、自信をもって音読する姿から、「挑戦する人（Risk-Taker）」としての学習者像がしっかりと表れていました。
Our young learners had a wonderful and engaging reading session with the book “They Look.” We began by reading the new high-frequency words together on the board to build confidence and familiarity with the text. Then, as the teacher read aloud, students carefully followed along using their eyes and fingers to track each word being read. The excitement continued as students practiced reading with their friends, encouraging one another and building teamwork and confidence. Finally, they read together with the teacher, showing growing independence and enthusiasm for reading. It was amazing to see their focus, participation, and joy throughout the activity. Students are Risk-Takers as they showed courage and confidence in practicing their reading and trying challenging words.
今週、ミルキーウェイクラスでは楽しいテニスレッスンがありました。子どもたちがいつも楽しみにしているスクール活動のひとつで、この日も首にタオルをかけ、水筒を手にして、ワクワクした表情で出発の準備をしていました。期待いっぱいでバスに乗り込み、元気にテニスレッスンへ向かいました。
レッスンでは、体をたくさん動かしながら楽しく活動し、エネルギーあふれる時間を過ごしました。園に戻ってきた子どもたちは、満面の笑顔とともに、楽しかった経験をたくさん共有してくれました。学びと運動、そして楽しさが詰まった、とても充実した一日となりました。
また、モーニングサークルのリーダーとしての仕事やショー・アンド・テルの活動を通して、子どもたちは自分の考えをはっきり伝えたり、思いを込めて話したり、クラスの前で話すことに対する自信を大きく伸ばしています。以前よりも堂々と、意欲的に発表する姿がたくさん見られました。
今週も、意味のある学びと自信の成長、そしてたくさんの素敵な瞬間にあふれた一週間でした。これからも子どもたちが探究し、伝え、そして自分らしく輝いていけるよう、引き続きサポートしていきます。
Milky Way had an exciting tennis lesson this week! One of the school activities they always look forward to, the students eagerly prepared for the adventure with towels around their necks and water bottles in their hands. Full of excitement, they happily boarded the bus on their way to the tennis lesson. After an energetic and fun-filled session, the students returned to school with big smiles, happy hearts, and wonderful experiences to share. It was truly a joyful day of learning, movement, and fun!
Through leading the Morning Circle and participating in Show and Tell activities, students have shown significant growth in confidence as they expressed themselves clearly, shared their ideas thoughtfully, and spoke in front of their classmates with increasing confidence and enthusiasm. It was a joyful week filled with meaningful learning experiences, growing confidence, and wonderful moments that continue to inspire our young learners to explore, communicate, and shine.
来週もまた、ワクワクする学びの一週間が待っています。子どもたちはスイミングレッスンや、緊急時引き渡し訓練に参加する予定です。いつもご理解とご協力をいただき、心より感謝いたします。
