The end of our first month of school is finally here! Our Shooting Star students have grown into their new unit, learning all about the important roles they play now and will take on in the future. They are building awesome skills to complete tasks, take responsibility, and care for themselves and others.
いよいよ新学期最初の1ヶ月が終わりました！シューティングスタークラスの生徒たちは、新しい単元にすっかり馴染み、今担っている役割や将来担うことになる役割について学びました。課題をこなし、責任感を持ち、自分自身や周りの人を大切にするための素晴らしいスキルを身につけています。
Our biggest responsibility challenge was staying safe in an emergency. This week, we put their safety smarts to the test with an earthquake and emergency drill. Thanks to parents for participating! The students were quicker and quieter than last time. Way to go! Please keep reminding them about OHASHIMO and why it is important to remember at school, at home, or anywhere else!
今週の最大の課題は、緊急時に安全を確保することでした。地震と緊急時の避難訓練を通して、生徒たちの安全意識を試しました。保護者の皆様のご参加に感謝いたします！生徒たちは前回よりも素早く、静かに行動できました。素晴らしい！これからも、学校でも家庭でも、どこでも「OHASHIMO（おはしも）」を忘れずに、なぜそれを心に留めておくことが大切なのかを、生徒たちに伝え続けてください。
In the UOI and Phonics, the kids learned the sight word “I” and how to express themselves. We talked about how “I” can be used to share their name, age, or feelings, like saying “I am a student,” “I am here,” and “I am responsible.” After our discussions, the students also enjoyed coloring pictures that showed how classmates can take on different classroom responsibilities like theirs, such as cleaning up nicely, opening the door, and leading friends in line. Later, they cut and sorted pictures of some household chore that they already know! It was a great way for them to think about how they can help out and be responsible every day. Please chat with your child about ways they can help at home, too.
UOIとフォニックスの授業では、子どもたちは「I」という単語とその表現方法を学びました。「I」を使って自分の名前、年齢、気持ちを伝える方法、例えば「私は生徒です」「私はここにいます」「私は責任があります」などについて話し合いました。話し合いの後、生徒たちはクラスメートが自分たちと同じように教室で様々な役割を担う様子を描いた絵に色を塗って楽しみました。例えば、きれいに片付けたり、ドアを開けたり、友達を列に並ばせたりといったことです。その後、生徒たちは自分たちがすでに知っている家事の絵を切り取って分類しました。これは、生徒たちが毎日どのように手伝い、責任を果たせるかを考える良い機会となりました。ぜひお子さんと、家庭でできるお手伝いについて話し合ってみてください。
In dance class, the fun is really set in and the nerves are gone! The students remembered the choreography from the last few lessons, and their group moves are coming together beautifully. It is exciting to see them gain confidence and work together with every step. They are also keeping the beat in Music!
ダンスの授業では、すっかり楽しくなって緊張も解けました！みんな前回のレッスンの振り付けを覚えていて、グループの動きも美しくまとまっています。自信をつけ、一歩一歩を共に踏みしめていく姿を見るのは本当に感動的です。音楽の授業でも、みんなリズムをしっかり刻んでいます！
In other fun news, it is Koinobori, so Shooting Star students are preparing to wave fishy flags! They cut out different shapes, squished and swirled bright colors on their fish. After they finished fun flags, they used some scraps to create nifty crafts, like bread toaster ovens, fish boxes and origami! Enjoy the Golden Week holiday!
さて、楽しいニュースです。鯉のぼりの時期なので、シューティングスタークラスの生徒たちは魚の形をした旗を振る準備をしています！様々な形に切り抜いた魚に、色を塗ったり、渦巻き模様を描いたりして楽しんでいます。楽しい旗が完成した後は、余った材料を使って、パン焼き器や魚の箱、折り紙など、素敵な工作をしています！ゴールデンウィークの休日を楽しんでください！
