The little readers in Rainforest continue to be amazed by the magic of the English language! They are still in awe of how the vowel sound in a word changes from short to long, and how a letter can be present but remain silent. This week, the students took on a challenge that helped them strengthen both their reading and writing skills.
Their mission was to look around the classroom and find as many Magic e words as they could. Off they went, each student choosing books from our classroom library to search for words with the Magic e pattern. Many of them discovered new words such as made, hose, pine, and many more. After finding the words, they carefully listed them in their notebooks to practice their handwriting and spelling. The challenge also encouraged them to develop their research skills as they searched purposefully for information, stayed focused on their goal, and identified words that matched the CVCe pattern. They had a wonderful time while strengthening their reading, writing, and inquiry skills. It was wonderful to see them enjoying the challenge while developing their research skills and staying focused on their goal.
Rainforestの小さな読書家たちは、今もなお英語の不思議さに驚きながら学びを楽しんでいます。母音の音が短母音から長母音へ変化したり、単語の中にある文字が発音されなかったりすることに、子どもたちは興味津々です。
今週は、読み書きの力をさらに伸ばすためのチャレンジに取り組みました。
子どもたちのミッションは、教室の中からできるだけたくさんの「Magic e」の単語を見つけることです。それぞれがクラスライブラリーから本を選び、Magic eのパターンをもつ単語を探しました。子どもたちは made、hose、pine など、たくさんの新しい単語を見つけることができました。
見つけた単語はノートに丁寧に書き写し、文字を書く練習やスペリングの練習にもつなげました。また、この活動を通して、目的をもって情報を探し続ける力や、目標に集中しながらCVCeパターンの単語を見つける力など、リサーチスキルも育まれました。
子どもたちは楽しみながら読み書きの力を伸ばし、探究する力も高めることができました。目標に向かって集中しながら取り組み、リサーチスキルを伸ばしていく姿を見ることができ、とても嬉しく思います。
Our inquiry into the 3Rs is still ongoing, and we have now reached the reflection and action stage. The class was divided into four groups and challenged to think about how they could advocate for taking care of our Earth. Each group is creating a poster to share their ideas and encourage their friends in Savanna to take action. We are excited to see their creativity and hear the important messages they have prepared.
3Rs（Reduce・Reuse・Recycle）についての探究活動は引き続き進んでおり、現在は「振り返り」と「行動」の段階に入っています。
クラスを4つのグループに分け、地球を大切にするために自分たちにできることをどのように発信できるかを考えるチャレンジに取り組みました。
各グループは、自分たちのアイデアを共有し、Savannaクラスのお友達にも行動を呼びかけるためのポスターを作成しています。子どもたちがどのような創造的なアイデアを形にし、どんな大切なメッセージを伝えてくれるのか、今からとても楽しみです。
The weather has not been too hot this week, giving the Rainforest class the perfect opportunity to enjoy some muddy outdoor play. Their social skills truly shine during these moments as they talk, collaborate, imagine, create, and simply enjoy being children together. Sometimes, the best learning happens when they have the freedom to explore, get a little messy, and have fun!
今週はそれほど暑くなかったため、Rainforestクラスの子どもたちは外で思いきり泥遊びを楽しむことができました。
このような遊びの中で、子どもたちの社会性がとてもよく表れます。友達と話し合ったり、協力したり、想像を膨らませたり、一緒に何かを作り上げたりしながら、子どもらしくのびのびと遊ぶ姿が見られました。
時には、自由に探究し、少し泥だらけになりながら思いきり楽しむ中でこそ、最高の学びが生まれます。子どもたちは楽しみながら、多くのことを学び、成長しています。
