This week, the Rainforest class continued exploring conflict and communication. Through a video, the children discovered an important idea: conflict is not always bad. It is a natural part of our lives. What matters is how we respond and find ways to solve it. The children have been learning through experience, reflecting on what happened, sharing their discoveries, and adding new ideas to our growing Conflict and Solution Walls. Next, they will put their understanding into action through their Conflict and Solution Skits.
今週、Rainforestクラスでは、引き続き「コンフリクト（意見の対立やトラブル）」とコミュニケーションについて探究しました。
動画を通して、子どもたちは大切なことに気づきました。それは、コンフリクトは必ずしも悪いものではないということです。コンフリクトは、私たちの生活の中で自然に起こるものです。大切なのは、起きたことに対してどのように対応し、どのように解決する方法を見つけていくかということです。
子どもたちは、実際の経験を通して学び、何が起こったのかを振り返ったり、自分たちが気づいたことを共有したりしながら、少しずつ学びを深めています。そして、みんなで作っている「Conflict and Solution Walls（コンフリクトと解決方法の壁）」にも、新しいアイデアをどんどん加えています。
次は、「Conflict and Solution Skits（コンフリクトと解決方法の寸劇）」を通して、これまで学んできたことを実際に表現していきます。
Meanwhile, Sports Festival practice is in full swing! This year, the Rainforest children will be taking on important leadership roles throughout the event, from the Sportsmanship Oath to the opening song, exercise song, and their special performance. As this will be their last Sports Festival at Shimauchi, the team’s goal is not simply to perform well, but to make the most of the experience, have fun, support one another, and enjoy every step of the way together. ❤️
一方で、スポーツフェスティバルの練習も本格的に進んでいます！
今年、Rainforestの子どもたちは、選手宣誓、オープニングソング、エクササイズソング、そして特別なパフォーマンスなど、イベント全体を通して重要なリーダーの役割を担います。
今年は、子どもたちにとって島内キャンパスでの最後のスポーツフェスティバルとなります。そのため、チームの目標は、ただ上手にパフォーマンスをすることだけではありません。
この経験を思いきり楽しみ、お互いに支え合い、一つひとつの過程をみんなで楽しみながら、最高の思い出を作ることを大切にしています。❤️
Growing as Writers
In Writing, the Rainforest children have started learning how to write complete sentences. Rather than simply giving them the rules, the teacher wrote three sentences suggested by the students on the board and invited the class to See, Think, and Wonder:
“How do we write a sentence?”
By carefully observing the examples, the children discovered the rules themselves. They noticed that sentences begin with a capital letter, have spaces between words, and end with punctuation such as a period, question mark, or exclamation point.
Even in Writing, we continue to use an inquiry-based approach. We believe in our students’ ability to observe, think, question, and make discoveries for themselves. By giving them opportunities to construct their own understanding, we encourage student agency and ownership of their learning.
ライティングの時間では、文章を正しく完成させる書き方を学び始めました。
ただルールを教えるのではなく、先生が子どもたちから出た3つの文章をホワイトボードに書き、クラス全体で 「See, Think, and Wonder（見て、考えて、疑問に思う）」 という探究の方法を使って、
「私たちは、どのように文章を書けばいいの？」
という問いについて考えました。
例文を注意深く観察することで、子どもたちは自分たちで文章を書くためのルールを発見しました。文章は大文字から始まり、単語と単語の間にはスペースがあり、最後にはピリオド（.）、クエスチョンマーク（?）、エクスクラメーションマーク（!）などの句読点がつくことに気づきました。
ライティングの学習においても、私たちは引き続き**探究型のアプローチ（Inquiry-based approach）**を大切にしています。子どもたち自身が観察し、考え、疑問を持ち、自分たちで発見する力を信じています。
自分自身で理解を築いていく機会を与えることで、主体的に学ぶ力（student agency）と、自分の学びに責任や ownership を持つ姿勢を育んでいきたいと考えています。
