This week Waterfall has been doing their best preparing for Sports festival, making lots of craft, dancing, and even milking farm animals!
We went to the gym twice this week to practice racing and dancing. Each student had to think about their own responsibility, what they had to do, where to stand, and what to do next. It has been a great opportunity for students to continue gaining independence while moving their bodies and developing and understanding of healthy habits.
今週、Waterfallクラスでは、スポーツフェスティバルに向けて一生懸命準備をしました。たくさんの制作活動をしたり、ダンスの練習をしたり、さらには牛の乳しぼりにも挑戦しました！今週は2回体育館に行き、かけっこやダンスの練習をしました。子どもたちは一人ひとり、自分の役割や責任について考え、「何をするのか」「どこに立つのか」「次に何をするのか」を意識しながら取り組みました。体を動かしながら、健康的な生活習慣についての理解を深めるとともに、自分で考えて行動する力をさらに身につけていく、とても良い機会となりました。
Half of the class had their swimming lesson at the central pool, where the coaches are really impressed by how everyone is getting used to splashing, moving in water, and even getting faces wet too! The other (younger) half had a “rhythmic” lesson with Miss Miwako. She allowed students to explore rhythm through stories. We used our imaginations to take a walk around a lake, become frogs, and even chase fish!
セントラルプールでは、コーチの先生たちは、みんなが水しぶきに慣れ、水の中で体を動かしたり、顔を水につけたりできるようになってきたことに、とても感心していました！セントラルプールでの水泳のレッスンを受けないお友達は、今週からMiwako先生と一緒に「リトミック」のレッスンが始まりました。お話を通して、リズムを楽しみながら探究しました。想像力を膨らませながら湖の周りを散歩したり、カエルになったり、魚を追いかけたりと、さまざまな体験を楽しみました！
As our unit of inquiry progresses, students created a lot of craft this week. We made sharks, and finished our forest animal masks too! Once finished, we pretended to be living in the forest, and made a huge variety of animal sounds and movements. It was great fun!
UOI(探究の単元）が進む中で、今週はたくさんの製作活動を楽しみました。歯を一枚一枚糊で貼りオリジナルのサメを作ったり、森の動物のお面を完成させたりしました！完成した後は、みんなで森の中に住む動物になったつもりで、さまざまな動物の鳴き声や動きを表現しました。想像力をいっぱいに膨らませながら、動物になりきって楽しむことができました！
On Thursday, we had a visit from some dairy farmers! Students had the opportunity to find our where milk comes from, by getting “hands-on” with some cow udder models. Students could touch the dummy udders and squirt real milk from them! After that they even had a chance to make butter from the fresh milk. What an amazing experience!
木曜日には、酪農家の方々が来てくださり、子どもたちに特別な体験をさせていただきました！子どもたちは、牛の模型に実際に触れながら、牛乳がどこから来るのかを学びました。模型から本物の牛乳(白くした水）をしぼり出す体験もしました！その後は、新鮮な牛乳を使って、バター作りにも挑戦しました。牛乳がどのようにして私たちのもとに届くのかを、実際に触れて体験しながら学ぶことができた、とても貴重な経験になりました！
We begin the new month of September next week, and we can witness the changing of the seasons, while putting the finishing touches to our Sports Festival preparation!
来週から9月が始まります。季節の移り変わりを感じながら、スポーツフェスティバルに向けた準備もいよいよ仕上げの段階に入ります！
