Hello everyone! We had another exciting and active week in the Savanna class filled with learning, teamwork, and lots of fun!

During outdoor play, the children enjoyed playing the game Mr. Wolf. Everyone was excited to take turns being the wolf and did a wonderful job following the rules of the game. The children confidently asked, “What time is it?” and carefully walked forward the number of steps Mr. Wolf called out. They enthusiastically shouted the numbers and had so much fun running, chasing, and playing together with their friends.

Savannaクラスでは今週も、学びやチームワーク、そして楽しい活動がいっぱいの、わくわくする一週間を過ごしました！

戸外遊びでは、「Mr. Wolf」というゲームをして楽しみました。みんな順番にオオカミ役になることを楽しみにしていて、ゲームのルールもしっかり守りながら遊ぶことができました。

子どもたちは自信を持って “What time is it?” と尋ね、Mr. Wolf が言った数の分だけ慎重に前に進んでいました。数字を元気いっぱいに叫びながら、走ったり追いかけたりして、友達と一緒に楽しい時間を過ごしていました。

We are also very proud of how much the children are improving at walking in line safely. This week, we walked farther along the river than usual. When bicycles passed by, the children listened carefully for the whistle, stopped immediately, and checked for safety. Well done, Savanna students!

サバンナさん達は、列になって歩くことがとっても上手になり、私たちもとてもうれしく思います。今週は、いつもよりさらに遠くまで川沿いを歩きました。自転車が通る際には、子どもたちは笛の音をよく聞き、すぐに止まって安全を確認することができました。Savannaのみんな、暑い中よく頑張りました！

In Phonics, we focused on identifying the ending sounds in words and played a game called Sound Detectives. The children listened carefully, guessed the last letter sound of each word, and lined up in front of the correct letter. Everyone participated enthusiastically and did an excellent job saying the letter sounds clearly.

Phonicsでは、単語の最後の音を聞き取る活動に取り組み、「Sound Detectives」というゲームを行いました。子どもたちはよく耳を澄ませて単語を聞き、それぞれの単語の最後の文字の音を考えながら、正しい文字の前に並びました。みんな意欲的に参加し、文字の音もはっきりと発音することができていました。

We also began practicing lowercase letter writing by tracing letters. This week, we focused on the curved “c family” letters and successfully practiced writing the lowercase letters c and o.

また、小文字を書く練習も始まり、なぞり書きに取り組みました。今週は、カーブのある “c family” の文字に焦点を当て、小文字の c と o を上手に書く練習をすることができました。

In our UOI lessons, we continued exploring roles and responsibilities within families. After learning about the responsibilities of different family members, the children began thinking more deeply about how they help their own families at home. They shared their ideas and recorded their answers on a chart using stickers. The activity helped the children understand that everyone has an important role and responsibility within their family. They also learned new vocabulary words such as son, daughter, child, children, role, and responsibility. We discussed the meaning of the following questions:

• “What is your role in your family?” meaning Who are you in the family?
• “What is your responsibility in your family?” meaning How do you help your family?

At first, these concepts were a little challenging to understand, but through discussions, examples, and activities, the children gradually became more confident and were able to answer these tricky questions very well.

UOIのレッスンでは、家族の中での役割と責任についての探究を引き続き行いました。さまざまな家族の役割や責任について学んだ後、子どもたちは「自分は家でどのように家族を助けているか」について、より深く考え始めました。自分の考えをみんなの前で共有し、シールを使って表に答えを記録しました。

この活動を通して、子どもたちは家族の中で一人ひとりに大切な役割や責任があることを学びました。また、son（息子）、daughter（娘）、child / children（子ども）、role（役割）、responsibility（責任）などの新しい単語も学習しました。レッスンでは、次のような質問の意味についても話し合いました。

“What is your role in your family?”
（あなたは家族の中でどんな存在ですか？）

“What is your responsibility in your family?”
（あなたはどのように家族を助けていますか？）

最初は少し難しい概念でしたが、話し合いや具体例、さまざまな活動を通して、子どもたちは少しずつ理解を深め、自信を持ってこれらの質問に答えられるようになってきました。
