It was another exciting and busy week in Savanna Class! As we continued preparing for the upcoming Sports Fest, we also explored the life cycles of small creatures, practiced new Phonics words, developed our teamwork and communication skills, and enjoyed some fun water play. Our Savanna students had many wonderful opportunities to learn, grow, work together, and have fun!
As the Sports Fest is getting closer, Savanna Class has been working very hard to practice! This week, we went to the gym twice and practiced together with other classes, just like the real event. Everyone showed great effort and is becoming more confident and excited for the big day. We also practiced our paraballoon performance in the classroom by working in smaller groups. We talked about how to make a nice body bridge, how to march properly, and how to make the balls bounce higher. During our reflection time, many children were proud of their improvement and shared comments such as, “She did good because she can stand nicely. He was good because he can make a nice bridge.” It was wonderful to see everyone thinking about their performance and celebrating their progress.
小さな生き物のライフサイクルを探究し、一緒に学ぼう！ SV 8/24-28
今週もサバンナクラスでは、楽しく充実した一週間を過ごしました！
スポーツフェスティバルに向けた練習を続けながら、小さな生き物のライフサイクルについて探究したり、新しいフォニックスの単語を練習したり、チームワークやコミュニケーションの力を育んだり、楽しい水遊びをしたりしました。サバンナの子どもたちは、学び、成長し、協力し合い、たくさんの楽しい体験をしました！
スポーツフェスティバルまであと数週間。サバンナさん達はかけっこ、パフォーマンスの練習に一生懸命取り組んでいます。今週は2回体育館へ行き、本番と同じように他のクラスと一緒に練習をしました。少しずつ自信をつけながら、当日が来ることをみんなとても楽しみにしています。
また、教室では少人数のグループに分かれて、パラバルーンの練習もしました。きれいな「ボディブリッジ」の作り方や、上手に行進する方法、ボールをより高く跳ねさせる方法について話し合いました。
振り返りの時間には、自分たちの上達を嬉しく思い、
「She did good because she can stand nicely.（彼女はきれいに立てていたから上手だったよ）」
「He was good because he can make a nice bridge.（彼はきれいなブリッジができていたから上手だったよ）」
など、友だちの頑張りについて話す子どもたちもたくさんいました。
一人ひとりが自分たちのパフォーマンスについて考え、お互いの成長や頑張りを認め合っている姿を見ることができ、とても嬉しく思いました。
In our Phonics lesson, we learned words from the -en word family, such as hen, pen, and men. Through games and activities, the children also practiced their teamwork skills while having fun learning together. We also practiced writing lowercase letter h and everyone did a great job tracing the letters!
フォニックスのレッスンでは、-enワードファミリーの単語を学び、hen（めんどり）、pen（ペン）、men（男性たち） などの単語を練習しました。ゲームやアクティビティを通して、子どもたちは楽しみながら一緒に学び、チームワークの力も身につけました。
また、**小文字の「h」**を書く練習もしました。「１，２…」と書き順を声に出しながら、文字をなぞる練習をとても頑張りました！
In our UOI lessons, we continued developing our research skills as we learned about the life cycles of small creatures. First, the children worked in groups to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. They carefully looked through books to find the answers and arranged the pictures in the correct order. Since there are many different small creatures, we worked in groups again, and each group chose one small creature to research. We used the same strategy to practice our research skills, but this time, the children had to draw each stage of the life cycle. After carefully scanning the pages of the books one by one, they finally found the life cycles they were looking for. We heard many excited voices saying, “Ms. Fronie, I found it!”
UOIのレッスンでは、小さな生き物のライフサイクルについて学びながら、引き続きリサーチスキルを伸ばしました。まず、子どもたちはグループに分かれて、蝶のライフサイクルについて学びました。その後グループごとに、本を丁寧に見ながら答えを探し、写真や絵を正しい順番に並べました。
小さな生き物にはたくさんの種類がいるため、再びグループに分かれ、それぞれのグループで一つの小さな生き物を選んで調べました。今回も同じ方法でリサーチスキルを練習しましたが、今回はライフサイクルのそれぞれの段階を自分たちで描くことに挑戦しました。子どもたちは本のページを一枚一枚丁寧にめくり、探していた情報を見つけると、「Ms. Fronie、見つけたよ！、と嬉しそうに教えてくれました。
Each group then decided who would draw and who would color. After completing their work, each group presented their research to the class, and everyone did a great job! They practiced presenting by explaining, “This is a ______’s life cycle. It starts with an egg. Then, a ______ comes out from the egg. Next… Finally…” Little by little, our Savanna students are improving their research, communication, and teamwork skills through these group activities. We are proud of how they are learning to share responsibilities, work together, and confidently present their ideas.
それぞれのグループでは、誰が絵を描き、誰が色を塗るのかを相談して決めました。すべてのライフサイクルが完成した後は、各グループが自分たちで調べたことをクラスのみんなの前で発表し、全員がとても上手に発表することができました！
発表の練習では、「これは、〇〇のライフサイクルです。最初は卵です。次に、卵から〇〇が出てきます。それから……最後に……」というように、順番に説明しました。
このようなグループ活動を通して、サバンナさん達は少しずつ、リサーチスキル、コミュニケーションスキル、そしてチームワークを伸ばしています。役割を分担し、協力して取り組み、自分たちの考えを自信を持って発表できるようになってきた子どもたちの姿を、とても嬉しく思います。
We discovered something very interesting about the dragonfly life cycle. We learned that a dragonfly nymph can live underwater for up to five years before it comes out of the water and transforms into an adult dragonfly.
トンボのライフサイクルについて、とても興味深いことを発見しました。なんと、トンボの幼虫（ヤゴ）は、水中で最長5年間も過ごすことがあると学びました。その後、水から出て羽化し、大人のトンボへと姿を変えます。サバンナさん達が生まれてから年月とおなじぐらい、幼虫は水の中で過ごしていることに、みんなびっくりしました！
Our bell peppers finally turned red, and we were excited to harvest them! We harvested three big bell peppers, and three of our friends were lucky enough to take one home. We can’t wait for our next harvest to see who the lucky ones will be next!
育てていたパプリカがついに赤く色づき、みんな大喜びで収穫しました！大きなパプリカを3つ収穫し、そのうち3人のお友だちがラッキーなことに1つずつ持ち帰ることができました。次の収穫では、誰がラッキーな持ち帰りメンバーになるのか、今から楽しみです！
To end our summer water play activity, we enjoyed playing with sprinklers in the schoolyard! The children held hands with their friends to make big and small circles while enjoying the water splashing around them. There were many smiles, laughter, and happy faces as everyone cooled down and played together.
夏の水遊びの締めくくりとして、園庭でスプリンクラーを使って楽しく遊びました！子どもたちはお友だちと手をつなぎ、大きな輪や小さな輪を作りながら、周りに水が飛び散るのを楽しみました。みんなで一緒に遊びながら涼む中で、たくさんの笑顔や笑い声、楽しそうな表情が見られました。
It was a wonderful week filled with hard work, curiosity, teamwork, and fun! We are proud of how our Savanna students continue to grow, learn, and support one another each day.
