Nakano Grade 5: Exploring Ancient Egypt and Experiencing PIC(Sept. 14th-25th)

Last Monday, our Grade 5 students had an exciting learning experience that connected our Unit of Inquiry with a visit to the Nagano Prefectural Art Museum. Together with the Lower and Middle Grades, we explored an exhibition featuring relics and artifacts from Ancient Egypt and learned more about this fascinating civilization.

One of the things that caught our attention was the materials used to create many of the ancient objects. We noticed that limestone was commonly used for statues, carvings, and other artifacts. We also learned about the fascinating process of mummification and how ancient Egyptians prepared and preserved bodies as part of their beliefs and traditions.

Our learning continued in the week when we joined the PIC Grade 6–Middle School class at ISN Gojo Campus. We shared what we had discovered at the museum and talked about what we learned about Ancient Egyptian civilization. It was a wonderful opportunity for our Grade 5 students to share their ideas and learn from older students.

In the afternoon, we also joined their Japanese and Math lessons. Being part of their classroom gave us a glimpse into what learning in middle school at ISN is like. The students enjoyed seeing how the lessons were structured and experiencing a different classroom environment.

It was a meaningful day of learning, sharing, and looking ahead. We are grateful to our parents who accompanied us and helped make this experience possible.

Thank you, parents, for learning and exploring with us!
