We loved learning about animals! WF 10/02

This week marked the last week of our unit of inquiry on understanding animals’ relationship with humans. We brought together all of our ideas, and reviewed what we had been looking at over the past few months.

Students talked about which animals they liked the best, what habitats animals need to survive, and what products animals make for humans. Everybody was able to express their opinion really well. It was so interesting as a teacher to also hear everyone’s opinion on what we were studying.

Some students said they enjoyed pretending to be forest animals the best. Others loved pretending to float in the ocean like a jellyfish, while still others were captivated by the sweet treats provided by hard-working bees! If you get time, please talk to your child and ask them what their favourite animal is and why!

We had some more great imaginative time in our rhythmic lessons, pretending to go for a walk in the forest, catching insects, and using our bodies to express ourselves with the rhythms of nature!

This week also saw us welcome the new month of October. As students’ ability to recognise patterns in the calendar, and conceptualise the passage of time grows, students have been showing lots of interest in how days become weeks, and weeks become months! We were counting down until October, because so many students can’t wait for Halloween! To look forward to that time of celebration, students made cute pumpkins with Miss Naoko.

Next week we begin our new unit of inquiry! We will dive in to stories, imagination, and how we express ourselves. I can’t wait to see how students connect to the joy of story-telling!
