Starting Our New Unit: Storytelling
This week, the Milky Way class began exploring a new unit under the theme “How We Express Ourselves,” with a focus on Storytelling.
We started with the question, “What is a story?” The children shared their ideas, including books and ways of communicating something to others. We then wondered, “Can we tell a story without using words?” The children came up with ideas such as using actions and body movements to express a story.
This unit will also connect to our Christmas Show in December. We are excited to explore different possibilities together and see what kind of performance and storytelling the children will create!
今週のMilky Wayクラスでは、いよいよ新しいユニットの探究が始まりました。
今回のテーマは 「How We Express Ourselves（私たちはどのように自分を表現するのか）」、探究テーマは 「Storytelling」 です。
「What is a story?（ストーリーって何だろう？）」という問いかけから始まった導入活動。子どもたちからは、Book（本）や、何かを伝えることなど、さまざまなアイディアが出てきました。また、「言葉がなくてもストーリーを伝えられるのかな？」という問いには、アクションや体を使って伝える方法も挙がりました。
12月のクリスマスショーにもつながる今回のユニット。子どもたちと一緒にどのようなストーリーを創り上げていくのか、今からとても楽しみです！
Getting Ready for Halloween!
Before that, we have another exciting event to look forward to this month: our Halloween Party! The children are already full of excitement as they prepare through Halloween dances and crafts.
For our latest Halloween craft, the children created their own unique monsters using a fluffy, puffy mixture of shaving foam, glue, and paint. They were completely absorbed in their creations, enjoying the unusual texture as they brought their original monster designs to life.

さて、その前に、今月末には子どもたちが楽しみにしているハロウィンパーティーが待っています。ダンスや工作など、ハロウィンに向けた活動にもワクワクしながら取り組んでいる子どもたち。
今回のクラフトでは、シェービングフォームとボンド、絵の具を混ぜた、ふわふわ・もこもこの絵の具を使って、オリジナルモンスターを制作しました。独特の感触を楽しみながら、夢中になって自分だけのモンスターを作り上げました。ハロウィン当日には、ぜひ実際に触れてお楽しみください！
Caring for Our Younger Friends
On a beautiful, clear autumn day, we visited the park together with our younger friends. It was lovely to see the Milky Way children gently holding their little friends’ hands, speaking kindly to them, and playing together.
Watching them care for the younger children with such kindness and confidence was a wonderful reminder of how much they have grown. We were very proud to see these thoughtful, caring moments from our oldest preschoolers.
また、秋晴れの清々しい日には、小さなお友達と一緒に公園へ出かけました。小さなお友達の手を取り、優しく声をかけながら一緒に遊ぶ姿は、とても頼もしく、年長さんらしい成長を感じる嬉しいひとときでした。
