Hello! Summer School is here, and it has been a pretty eventful but fun time for us at ISN. This week’s theme is games, and creating our own games. The students have had a good time doing this, and we have also been busy with other activities, like water play, World Cinema, and more.

Grade 1 started the week off by creating their own game with Mr. Howard. Grade 1 worked with grade 2 to make their own characters, and this set the mood off well for this week’s theme for board games. On Monday, we also had a somen slider with the students enjoying somen, vegetables and a small dessert. This was followed by water play, and the students certainly bombed me with refillable water bombs. Fun was had!

Grade 1 also had Mr. Charles Ward visited our school to have a couple of days for the students, and how to create your own game. This was great, as the students got into their creative bag to make their own games. We also made our own bamboo shooters which were so cool. Mr. Terry Takizawa helped us build bamboo shooters on Tuesday.

Wednesday was really fun. Grade 1, along with grade 2 and 4 went to Ryumonfuchi Park for a picnic and great play time. The students have been writing very small diary entries and this helps students keep a memory of the activities that we’ve been doing.

Grade 3 students had a fantastic start to Summer School! They began designing their own board games, using their creativity while developing teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. They also joined a special board game workshop, where they explored new ideas and collaborated with others to improve their designs.

The fun continued with an exciting trip to a nearby park for water play. Students made traditional bamboo water blasters and enjoyed cooling off together through fun games and activities. It was a wonderful first week filled with creativity, friendship, and lots of smiles!
