Hello everyone! I hopr that you are all doing well and you have had a really good 2 weeks. Grade 1 has been working really hard to prepare for our Sports Festival. The students began dance practice and the students chose the song, “A million dreams,” for their choreography dance. We also began getting ready for our music concert in December, and new topics for mathematics, the cherry method and we started learning about verbs for English.

This week, we had a day of decorations, drawing and colouring in preparation for our 2026 Sports Festival! The grade 1 students were allocated Houses, based on their interests and what they like. This was a fun activity for the students, as they drew different versions of their house creatures. We’ll see what the following week will have for us.

This week, we also had a dance teacher come to Gojo and give us some really good advice on our dance performance. This was really helpful for us, and gave us a different view of things and how we can improve our choreography dance. The students enjoyed working with our guest dance instructor and they did really well in the dance rehearsal. We look forward to performing for you!

This week we continued our preparations for the 2026 Sports Festival and the grade 1 students also had the chance to work with students from other grades and I think it was a great way for all students to interact with each other. We painted some materials such as boxes that we will use in our Sports Festival and the students worked really hard on this.

Last week we managed to play and practice our Sports Festival Game with the grade 2 class. This was a great way for us to also interact with a different class and enjoy our game together. The grade 1 students showed how the game is played really well to the grade 2 students, and it was a great game all round.

On our return from Silver Week, we had our final day of preparations for Sports Festival decorations and the students got the chance to interact with students from other classes, as this was done in Houses.

Today we enjoyed going for some rice harvests! The students planted rice in may, and today we were able to move onto the next step of our rice planting learning and adventure. The students helped harvest the rice we planted a few months ago. Now we looked forward to seeing how our rice will be like and enjoying it in winter during the school’s mochi pounding event. The students did well and we enjoyed a great day outside with beautiful weather.
Thank you so much for your support and guidance. We are looking forward to seeing you in our Sports Festival, the students have worked really hard on their dance, Sports Festival preparations and I hope that you all enjoy what we have prepared for you. I hope that you have a good weekend and I am looking forward to seeing you soon. Have a nice weekend, take care!
