Welcome to our blog for this week!

During our Unit of Inquiry, we explored the difference between living and non-living things. The students shared their ideas about what makes something alive. They said that living things need water, can walk or move, and grow. They were able to identify examples of living things, such as stag beetles, bugs, trees, butterflies, and flowers. The students also recognized examples of non-living things, including glasses, paper, books, diggers, dump trucks, chairs, baskets, and shoe bags. Through discussions and sharing their ideas, the students developed a better understanding of the characteristics of living and non-living things.

こんにちは！今週のShooting Starクラスの様子をお届けします♪

UOIでは、「生き物」と「生き物ではないもの」の違いについて探究しました🌱子どもたちは、「生き物ってどんなものだろう？」と考えながら、「お水が必要！」「歩いたり動いたりする！」「大きくなる！」など、たくさんの意見を発表してくれました😊また、カブトムシや虫、木、ちょうちょ、花などの生き物と、メガネや紙、本、ショベルカー、ダンプカー、イス、かご、シューズバッグなどの生き物ではないものを、自分たちで考えながら分類することができました。お友だちと意見を伝え合ったり、「これはどうかな？」と一緒に考えたりする中で、生き物の特徴について理解を深めることができました✨これからも、さまざまな小さな生き物を観察しながら、新しい発見や「なぜだろう？」を大切に探究を進めていきます🐞🌿

Our visit to the Forest Center was a fun and exciting learning experience. The students were enthusiastic throughout the trip, especially during the insect hunting activity. They eagerly explored the forest, carefully searching under leaves, on tree trunks, and in the grass to find different kinds of small creatures. The students enjoyed observing the insects they found and shared their discoveries with their friends. This hands-on experience helped them develop their observation skills and deepen their understanding of the habitats and characteristics of living things while fostering curiosity and appreciation for nature.

そして今週は、林業総合センターへField tripに行ってきました🌳🐞この日をずっと楽しみにしてきたShootingさん達。特に虫探しでは大盛り上がりでした！落ち葉の下や木の幹、草むらなどを夢中になって探しながら、「いた！」「こっちにもいるよ！」と友だちと発見を共有する姿がたくさん見られました😊見つけた虫をじっくり観察し、「どこに住んでいるのかな？」「何を食べるのかな？」と興味を広げながら、さまざまな小さな生き物との出会いを楽しんでいました。

実際に自然の中で体験することで、生き物の住む場所や特徴への理解を深めるとともに、観察する力や探究心、そして自然を大切にする気持ちも育まれた一日となりました🌿✨

Our Eggplant Pizza Party was a wonderful celebration of the students’ hard work in caring for the eggplants they planted. After watching the plants grow, the students were excited to harvest the eggplants and turn them into delicious pizzas with the help of our lunch staff. Each student had the opportunity to add their own toppings, making the activity fun and engaging. They were proud to taste the pizzas made with the eggplants they had grown themselves. This meaningful experience helped the students understand the journey from growing food to enjoying a healthy meal while encouraging teamwork, responsibility, and an appreciation for fresh vegetables.

もう一つの大きな大きなお楽しみ、ナスピザパーティーを行いました🍆🍕

子どもたちは、自分たちで大切に育ててきたナスの成長を見守り、収穫の日を迎えることができました。収穫したナスは、キッチンの先生にご協力いただき、おいしいピザに大変身！ピザには一人ひとりが好きなトッピングをのせ、自分だけのオリジナルピザ作りを楽しみました😊「自分たちで育てたナス、おいしい！」「また食べたい！」と嬉しそうな声もたくさん聞かれ、子どもたちは大満足の様子でした。

苗植えから水やり、お世話、収穫、そして食べるまでの一連の体験を通して、食べ物が育つ過程や食べることの大切さを学ぶことができました。また、お友だちと協力して育てたことで、責任感や達成感も感じられる、とても素敵な活動となりました✨🍆🌱
