Greetings from our class!

This week in our Unit of Inquiry 2, we started discussing small creatures. The students showed a great deal of interest and really enjoyed the lesson. For our provocation, we did a “Small Creatures Walk” activity, where the students walked around and observed the insects that their friends had brought to class. During their observations, they used magnifying glasses and picture books to look closely at the small creatures and notice their different features. After the activity, the students drew the small creatures they had seen and shared their observations with their classmates. This experience helped develop their observation skills, encouraged inquiry, and increased their appreciation for the small creatures that live in our environment.

こんにちは！今週のShooting Starクラスの様子をお届けします！

Unit2では、「小さな生き物（Small Creatures）」の探究がスタートしました！子どもたちは生き物に興味津々で、楽しみながら活動に参加していました😊

導入では、「Small Creatures Walk」を行い、お友だちが持ってきてくれた虫や小さな生き物をじっくり観察しました。虫めがねや図鑑を使いながら、「足は何本あるかな？」「どんな模様をしているかな？」と細かいところまで興味を持って見ている姿がたくさん見られました。

観察の後は、見つけた生き物の絵を描き、自分が気付いたことや発見したことをクラスのみんなに発表しました✨実際に見て、触れて、考える体験を通して、観察する力や「もっと知りたい！」という探究心が育まれています。これからもさまざまな小さな生き物との出会いを楽しみながら、学びを深めていきたいと思います🐞🦋🐌🌿

To assess what the students already know about small creatures, we did a “Who Lives Here?” activity. We explored different habitats where small creatures can be found, such as grass, flowers, tree bark, soil, ponds, and under rocks. The students walked around and observed each habitat carefully, then drew the small creatures they thought might live there. Through this activity, the students shared their prior knowledge, made connections between insects and their habitats, and developed their observation and thinking skills. It was a great opportunity for them to express their ideas and demonstrate what they already knew about the environments of small creatures.

まずは子どもたちが小さな生き物についてどんなことを知っているのかを知るために、「Who Lives Here?（ここには誰が住んでいるかな？）」というアクティビティに取り組みました。

草むらや花、木の皮、土の中、池、石の下など、小さな生き物が暮らしていそうな場所を見ながら、「ここにはどんな生き物がいるかな？」と考えました😊子どもたちはそれぞれの場所について考え、「ダンゴムシがいるかも！」「アリがいそう！」「カタツムリもいるかな？」など、自分の考えを自由に表現しながら、思い浮かんだ生き物を絵に描いていました。

この活動を通して、これまでの経験や知識を生かしながら、生き物と住んでいる場所とのつながりについて考えることができました。また、観察する力や「なぜだろう？」「本当にいるのかな？」と考える探究心も育まれています✨これからたくさんの小さな生き物との出会いを楽しみながら、子どもたちの「知りたい！」を大切に探究を進めていきます🐞🌿🐜

We started our outside pool activities this week, and the students were very happy and excited to participate. During the session, we did a variety of fun activities such as making bubbles in the water, kicking our legs, swimming like an alligator, and walking around the pool like a washing machine. The students enjoyed exploring the water through movement and play while building their confidence and coordination. It was wonderful to see their smiles, enthusiasm, and active participation throughout the activity.

いよいよ園庭でのプール遊びが始まりました！🏊‍♀️☀️子どもたちはこの日をとても楽しみにしていて、笑顔いっぱいでプールに入っていきました😊プールでは、水の中でぶくぶくと泡を作ったり、バタ足をしたり、ワニさんになって進んだり、みんなで洗濯機のようにぐるぐる歩いたりと、さまざまな水遊びを楽しみました♪遊びを通して、水に親しみながら体の動かし方を学び、少しずつ水への自信もつけています。これからも安全に気をつけながら、暑い夏ならではのプール遊びを思いきり楽しんでいきたいと思います✨💦
