We had another wonderful week filled with learning, discovery, and exciting experiences! From exploring Japanese celebrations to harvesting our sweet potatoes and building our phonics skills, our learners continued to grow and learn together. Let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to this week!
We began our Unit of Inquiry with a prior knowledge assessment, where we explored different celebrations around Japan. The learners chose a celebration and pasted it onto the calendar in the month when it takes place. We also discussed how people celebrate these special events and the activities they enjoy. It was wonderful to see the learners sharing their ideas and knowledge in both English and Japanese! Well done!
こんにちは！😊 今週も、たくさんの学びや発見、楽しい体験が詰まった一週間となりました！日本のお祝い・行事について探究したり、サツマイモ掘りを楽しんだり、Phonicsの学びを深めたりと、さまざまな活動を通して成長する子どもたちの姿が見られました✨
UOI「Celebrations（お祝い・行事）」では、まず子どもたちが今知っていることを確認する活動をしますた。日本のさまざまなお祝い・行事の中から一つを選び、その行事が行われる月のカレンダーに貼っていきました。また、それぞれの行事ではどんなことをするのか、どのようにお祝いするのかについても、みんなで話し合いました😊
英語と日本語の両方で、自分の知っていることや考えを一生懸命伝えてくれた子どもたち。それぞれの経験や知識を共有しながら、楽しく学びをスタートすることができました👏🌸
Last summer, we planted sweet potatoes, and this week, we finally got to harvest them! The learners were excited to see the results of their hard work and discover the sweet potatoes growing beneath the soil. From planting in the summer to harvesting in the fall, it has been a wonderful hands-on learning experience. Now, we are looking forward to our sweet potato party, where we can enjoy the fruits of our labor together!
夏前に植えたサツマイモが、ついに収穫の時期を迎えました！🍠子どもたちは、土の中からサツマイモが出てくると大喜び！「あった！」「大きいよ！」と、自分たちが植えた苗がどんなふうに育ったのか、ワクワクしながら収穫を楽しみました😊苗を植え、秋に収穫するまで、実際に植物の成長を感じられる貴重な体験となりました✨次のお楽しみは、みんなで収穫したサツマイモを味わうスイートポテトパーティー！🍠🎉 自分たちで育てたサツマイモを食べる日が、今から待ち遠しいですね♪
In phonics, we started a new lesson on the short /i/ sound family, beginning with the -ib CVC word family. The learners shared examples of words they could make using this pattern. We were impressed to see how they are now able to spell words by blending the sounds of individual letters together. Their growing confidence and phonics skills are wonderful to see. Keep up the great work, everyone!
Phonicsレッスンでは、短い /i/ の音を使った新しい学習がスタートしました！今回は「-ib」のCVC word familyに取り組みました。子どもたちは、「-ib」のパターンを使ってどんな単語が作れるかを考え、積極的に発表してくれました😊一つひとつの文字の音をつなげて単語を読み、さらに自分でスペルを書けるようになってきた姿に感心しています！Phonicsの力が少しずつ身につき、自信を持って取り組む姿がとても頼もしいです！ この調子で頑張りましょう！
