A Super Summer School for Shooting Star – 7.27-7.31

Summer School week one was packed with sunshine, splashes, and bursts of creativity! Every day, the enthusiastic Shooting Star students, joined by two special guest students, eagerly dived into a variety of exciting activities designed to make this summer truly unforgettable. The fun kicked off with the creation of personalized Summer Passport books, where the kids joyfully captured all their favorite things about summer, with pools and ice cream topping the list, of course! They also made colorful fans to keep them cool and shaded on the hot summer days. These activities sparked their imaginations and set a cheerful tone for the week ahead.

No summer is complete without a celebration of fireworks, so the kids gathered shiny tinsel, sparkling sequins, and bright stickers to decorate their own Hanabi festival night skies. These dazzling creations will not only adorn the school halls but also inspire a few surprise projects later this year, paying tribute to the magic and wonder of summer nights.

Next, the students crafted colorful origami cups and bowls—perfect companions for a cozy Paw Patrol movie afternoon, which arrived just in time to brighten a rainy day. With popcorn in hand and smiles all around, everyone settled in for some much-loved on-screen fun.

The splashy highlight of the week was a lively Water Play Party held jointly with the Milky Way classes. This joyful celebration featured refreshing shaved ice treats, a playful yo-yo balloon fishing game, and plenty of pool time for everyone to cool off, splash around, and make waves under the warm sun.

Later, Shooting Star students explored art and science by making water balloon toss paintings inspired by the puddles beneath their feet, paired with hand-crafted Water Strider crafts made collaboratively. They tested their creations, discovering the challenge of balancing these fascinating insects on water, gaining a new appreciation for how these creatures effortlessly stand on the surface in nature.

Finally, we wrapped up Summer School week at Nakano Campus with a splash! Shooting Star students had a blast enjoying water balloons, slip and slides, and plenty of sprinklers alongside their friends from the Milky Way class. They were happy to visit the lively pond full of frogs, again which inspired them to craft origami frogs to accompany their handmade water striders, creating a delightful connection between nature and creativity.
