What a fantastic first week of Summer School! We welcomed a new friend to the Milky Way class and enjoyed making new memories together. Each morning, the students worked through their special Summer School Workbook, practising writing, tracing, puzzles, and other fun learning activities before heading outside to cool off in the pool. Daily pool play quickly became one of everyone’s favourite parts of the day and helped us stay cool during the hot summer weather.
サマースクールの第1週がスタートし、とても楽しい一週間となりました！Milky Wayクラスには新しいお友達も加わり、みんなでたくさんの思い出を作ることができました。毎朝はサマースクールワークブックに取り組み、文字やなぞり書き、パズルなどを楽しんだ後、外でプール遊びをしました。毎日のプール遊びは、暑い夏を気持ちよく過ごすことができる、みんなのお気に入りの時間となりました。
Day 1 – Our Original Uchiwas
On our first day, the students designed and decorated their own uchiwas (Japanese fans). Each fan was unique and reflected the students’ creativity and personalities. It was wonderful to see everyone proudly using their finished fans to stay cool during the summer heat.
1日目は、自分だけのオリジナルうちわを作りました。一人ひとりが好きな絵や模様を描き、それぞれ個性あふれる素敵な作品が完成しました。出来上がったうちわを嬉しそうに使いながら、暑い夏を楽しく過ごしました。
Day 2 – Popcorn and a Movie
Our classroom became a mini cinema for the day! In the morning, the students made their own popcorn boxes before watching the popcorn machine in action. Everyone eagerly waited as the popcorn popped, filling the room with its delicious smell. Afterwards, we enjoyed eating our popcorn while watching a movie together. It was a relaxing and memorable summer experience.
この日は教室が小さな映画館に変身しました！午前中は自分だけのポップコーンボックスを作り、その後はポップコーンメーカーでポップコーンができあがる様子をみんなで見学しました。部屋いっぱいに広がる香ばしい香りに、「早く食べたい！」という声がたくさん聞こえてきました。できたてのポップコーンを食べながら映画を楽しみ、特別な時間を過ごしました。
Day 3 – A Summer Festival Experience
The students enjoyed a day filled with traditional Japanese summer festival fun! After cooling off in the pool, everyone enjoyed delicious shaved ice before trying their luck at catching colourful yo-yo balloons. In the afternoon, the students also created their own Milky Way flags using their wonderful imaginations and creativity.
3日目は、夏祭りのような一日を楽しみました。プール遊びの後は、冷たいかき氷を食べて涼み、ヨーヨーつりにも挑戦しました。午後には、創造力を発揮しながらオリジナルのMilky Wayフラッグも作りました。夏らしい活動をたくさん楽しむことができました。
Day 4 – Water Gun Painting
After completing the final pages of their Summer School Workbooks, the students headed outside for a very special art activity. Instead of using paintbrushes, they filled water guns with paint and sprayed colourful patterns onto large sheets of paper. The students loved experimenting with different colours and seeing their artwork come to life in such a fun and energetic way.
サマースクールワークブックを終えた後は、外で特別なアート活動を楽しみました。今回は筆ではなく、水鉄砲に絵の具を入れて、大きな紙に向かって色を飛ばしました。さまざまな色が混ざり合う様子を楽しみながら、元気いっぱいに作品作りをしました。
Day 5 – A Summer Adventure at Nakano Campus
To finish the week, we visited Nakano Campus for a day packed with exciting activities. The students had great fun cooling off with water guns, water play, and a giant slip-and-slide surrounded by beautiful nature. In the afternoon, we ended the day with a special bug hunt challenge inside a dark room, using flashlights to search for hidden insects. It was the perfect way to end an unforgettable first week of Summer School, and we are already looking forward to Week 2!
週の最後は、中野キャンパスへ行き、夏ならではの活動をたくさん楽しみました。水鉄砲や水遊び、大きなスリップ＆スライドで思い切り体を動かし、自然の中で涼しい時間を過ごしました。午後は暗い部屋の中で懐中電灯を使いながら虫探しゲームにも挑戦し、最後までワクワクいっぱいの一日となりました。楽しい思い出がたくさん詰まったサマースクール第1週となり、第2週も今から楽しみです！
